Which top handled chainsaw to buy?

I’m looking buying either the Stihl MS 201 TC-M or the Husqvarna T540 XP. All my my chainsaws are Stihl at the moment but I’ve used Husky’s before and have been very satisfied with these machines.

 

I would like some feedback from you guys on performance and maintenance.

Get a MS150 and tweak it once run in - nice small, light and cheap. They are surprisingly good once opened up a little!

Of the two saws you mentioned, and bearing in mind I don't climb or use one, the MS201TCM is far simpler to work on and less fragile. The T540XP clips are a good design though!

The MK2 T540 is more robust than the original and fragile MK1 .

I would still rather work on a 201! The 540 is one of those machines, too many pipes, lots of types of screws, lots of bits....too complex design! Give me a MS200 any day!

T540 mk2 for me, ms200 was my first love but the T540 is an impressive machine. Also got a small hyundai top handle as a back up / dirty job saw which for the price of £130 was a good buy considering the abuse its taken.

I  was looking at the MS150 and I do like it very much, feels nice and comfortable to hold. Maybe I should put this machine on the list as well? But I’m reading so much about the other two. I’m using the MS250 at the moment.

I’ve had the 150 for a long time now.

I wouldn’t think twice buying a new one if needed.

fast cutting chain , lightweight and best of all compact.

i think the 201tcm is a good allround tophandle, haven't used the husky.

Echo 2511 is a brilliant little trim/light takedown saw.

 

201 very good, reliable

 

540 very good, very poky.
