Waste of time jobs

Just keep that chain or any other old 1s specifically for jobs like that and save ur new chains for the stem.

To be honest ur quicker with an old axe or a chopping pinch (welded a 4" brick bolster to pinch) both aren't too long even with big roots

I had to cut 350 pieces from old 2nd hand used railway sleepers the other week, bloody horrible job.

And not a lot u could do about it either, hard timber for an old chain. Ended up working 2 saws and just rotating them constantly sharpening them. Took a lot off the chains but still doing ok now

This is where a couple of cheaper Rotatech chains come in.
Had very similar the other month when my dad wanted some remains of his old hedge lobbing off at ground level, and an old holly bush stump cutting up that he had also apparently washed off.
Chains well dulled now, probably only fit for bin, but will attempt to resharpen (still learning the knack) but no loss really as bought for a purpose.

For dirty rooty stumps, sleepers and suchlije, there's a thing called carbide cluster disks, used with a concrete saw. They will cut through tyres, sleepers etc.

They're called Terrasaur. Pretty good, I used one for small roots in stoney ground. When one side is blunt, all you do is reverse the disc.
