Glad it wasn't serious but where was the file handle?

In my hand.
I was banging a new file into it when the file dropped out as I brought my hand down hard.
Won't do that again.
Note to self, hold the file!

I was always taught to bang the handle on the bench and the weight of the file will drive itself in. Do the same with hammers etc. Hope its not too sore but you are guaranteed to knock it on everything for the next few days!!

Feel for ya man,just got back from AandE myself smashed my hand this afternoon with a lump hammer full pelt, ripped it open down to the bone

Oh!, I bet that stung. I was working with a lad I'd never worked with before today, I was holding, he was swinging a lump hammer, I could feel my arsehole doing the fifty pence, five pence every time the hammer came down. Fortunately he was a good aim.

I was driving in a gate hook and got it a bit wrong
