Dropped a rotten chestnut roadside, and some old codger breaks into our work area complaining that he’s lived here beside that tree for 50 years and what right had we to take it down. My lads directed him my way, so I explained it was to make way for the new asylum seekers refuge that’s going up.
He was even more grumpy then as we escorted him back out of our way.

? did similar on a site clearance. Said it was for Tesco express just for shits & giggles ?

That was a weekend job (so as to help 1 of the lads out with last minute childcare issues during the week)

All hell broke loose - “....you’re doing this at the weekend because the council can’t see what you’ve done...”

Reply, “...errr, madam, please refer to the consented planning application supporting documents online, and do you really think the trees that are removed over the weekend will somehow not still be removed come Monday morning..?”

After the police attendance she was “advised” to disentangle herself from the hedgerow and go about her business...”

We were doing a site clearance around half a mile from a RSPCA centre in which we were burning the brash. Couple of staff turn up and the woman says " it's like a volcano down there with all the smoke", i reply "have you been in many volcano's?"

Neighbor of ours complains to the local TO that we’re ‘cutting trees down’ on our property, we have loads of TPO oaks at our place and we’ve done some ivy stripping and dead wooding. (I don’t think she likes us much) Tree officer turns up to see what we’re doing. Not only approves of the work but
nominates us for a conservation award.
Apparently her face was a picture when he went and told her. [emoji56]

We were clear felling some spruce on a PAWS and set the fire alarms off in the local major hospital half a mile away, that stopped all work pretty quick, about 25 years ago. Not original but pretty reasonable.

Nowadays I would be much more mindful of the effect smoke may have on ill people.
