Tree Surgeons / Arborists  , whatever tag you choose to use .

Ive seen many struggling with issues over the years  , mainly the one man bands and self empolyed subbies .

Its kinda had me a time or too .   I  just  man up and plough on .

I  fooking wish     .....        shed a few tears in my time stressing  over.....  nothing really .

This industry is hard on the body and mind  . Sometimes  I wish I never got into trees      ,    then otherdays Im superman and  batman rolled into one ... ?

Just read my post 3 times and can't see where I've contradicted me self? Might be me being numb but can't see it anywhere

In your first paragraph you criticise those who suggest others should man up and get on, in your second paragraph you suggest immigrants should pretty much man up and get on.................................

Mental health is a strange thing, the first time I suffered depression was when I was seriously ill?, yet, although being in some of the best hospitals in the country no doctor, specialist could find out what was actually wrong with me. I was barely able to walk, I started to loose my sight, and the sweats and sort of fits blew me away, 12 months off work and the doctors never did find out what caused it, I can accept that one. The second time there was no reason that I could work out. I'd got a good place, good Mrs, plenty of work yet fell into a really dark place, never considered killing myself but lost all touch of reality, try to  write feck on it more than once but I got to the stage where thinking of getting in the van to do a days work would start me shaking and sweating. Like I say mental health is weird. I've very rarely been a worrier, and I've been in some rare predicaments over the years, but nothing like stressing when there is nothing to stress about.

Not been on the receiving end myself, but the mrs has gone through depression, and you would never put her in the “depressed category” if ya knew her! Even she had no clues at first or looking back. I work with two people that are on meds for depression & anxiety. They sure do vary in character from day to day, its sad to see.

A difficult subject...would it be fair to say that we are talking about two different things?

1. Genuine mental/emotional distress

2. Narcissistic self absorption.

The problem as I see it is all this is subjective, since we cannot really ever know what it is like to be in someone else's mind...however, there must be some objective factors we can look at and agree on, to favour one category or the other. For instance, when a person who has a history of being a self-centred, entitled so-and-so (like many celebrities) complains they have some sort of mental illness, one is inclined to think its band-wagon stuff. They may actually be suffering, but maybe their suffering is a result of being chronically out of touch with reality and self-centred, that is to say, their distress is a result of their own narcissism?

Appreciate your reply to my stupid mistake I'm just trying to stress that mental health is taking more and more lives and if there was more resources put into helping with the cause and cure that would be a lot of lives saved and they say a lot of suicides are with the pressures of social media and what I meant about the migrants is if they have ran from their own problems and came here and laugh at our mental health crisis then their opinion is irrelevant that's what I was supposed to say don't know if I've contradicted myself again or not but that's just how it's comes across to me as I come to say (type) it
