Today's milling

This was the bottom trunk end of some pippy Oak i had milled and sold previously.

Around 500 wide by 1800, the photos show it slightly red in colour, however in real life they are very pink, almost aged salmon type pink.

Does anyone know why this may be, grown on wealden clay.

Sunburnt ?

Looks a cracking peice of timber??

I would say that the Oak is red because it is Red Oak.  Have you any leaves to check?

Very much a wanted commodity.  Wood carvers especially, but you might be surprised at the demand for Lime.  Not always easy finding the customers bu they are out there.
