Cheers Dave! My Log Deck is notched for a 4" Beam. I have some Beech milled to 4"  I'll use. Unfortunately I'll be heading back to Norway again the morn for another 5-8 weeks. :/

Today I was milling for a local Firewood supplier. Some European Oak he saved from the Log Pile that will be turned into a table. And some Cedar, at least he said it was Cedar, sure never smelled like it.

He’s got a lump of Walnut sitting round the back. 25”-30” diameter and 2m long. He’s held it back for 4 years but it does not look rotten at all. Hopefully I’ll get slab out of it when i come to mill it.

Out of interest. When you guys are milling and you’re charging by the hour do you charge from the time you start setting up till you’re packed up ready to leave? Or just the milling time? I charge full day or sometimes a half day. Never an hourly rate.

Bit of a disaster with the Softwood Bridge from ther Log Deck to the Mill. It snapped with a Log on it. Will need to Make one out of 4" Oak or Beach next time. A few Cargo Straps soon got me going again.

I used 10-12" Sitka on my last log bed.
It bent but didn't break.
Used Sitka 2x6" and 4" square legs on my milling table inside the Logosol for taking shock loads.
1.5 tons sitting broke it.
Logosol was fine[emoji16]
My next log bed will be 6x10" oak,
with 10" square legs

Hmrc fucked up my tax returns.
My bank won't give me a bounce back loan either.
Forecast is bleak.

Hopefully a glimmer of light in England  with some movement on restrictions. I’m in same boat up here in Scotland ref zero income and assistance as are many.

Good luck ?

I should not complain about being sent away again so soon. Its work after all. Six weeks on and two off hopefully wont last for long though.
