Looked at a job today in a small woodland.
Anyone ever milled burred ash? Or is it cankered?

That will more than likely be rotten/hollow it dont look a big tree ! but it looks in bad shape!! there probably just cankers, we did one in late oct and i was going to ring you but tree was not worth the effort to even try and move so it stayed where it fell,

Here is a pic - not a great one sorry.  Lovely timber for things like craft work, mirror frames etc.  Not everyone's cup of tea, but if I were nearer to you Saul (and had any cash) I would offer to buy the whole tree off you (milled).

You're probably right.
(As per usual[emoji6])
But with the wonders of two mix epoxy resin table makers...[emoji7][emoji848]
If it can be milled in one piece, it's probably worth it.

Get them stickered or they will get surface mold and staining.

Was hopingthey might become splated but probably not. Need to cover them from the sunlight and paint the ends as well

I've got about 20 Sweet Chestnuts that look similar to that in my woodland.

I felled and milled a couple last year, fantastic grain.
