Well, this has gotten interesting since I last looked!

I finished the job today, it was a major PITA a parked car made the drag even worse and we were clearing up by torchlight.

 

HOWEVER The price will be as quoted, I am surprised by the number of guys who will go back to a client and ask for more, puts you in the same league as theh pikeys IMO. This client got me on a recomendation from another client, if she then tells her friend that the guy she recommended came back for more money, then thats two clients who wont be recomending me. As things stand I have only reinforced my reputation.

 

As for the money, I have a weekly and monthly target which I work towards so as long as I hit that I can afford the odd balls up, and despite crimbo, december is looking good.

In all the years I've been doing treework, I've never had to ask for extra money to finish a job, but I wouldn't rule it out, thats just being stupid.

Perhaps you have a point 18 stoner . The digestives were good. I'm definatly going soft. But still have no regrets, and I make money on every job. Maybe not much, but I've never been that ambitious. There's more to life than money, even though it's important to me (I am from Yorkshire)

Too right Dave, i am with you. My point was, somtimes we all make a hash of pricing and on the occasion i go overprice, if the customer gives me attitude or a hard time I will feel more obliged to take the full money.

 

Whereas, if they are real sound folk and look after you, you can see them right too. Not always about offering money off, but sometimes doing that bit extra pruning or take out that little shrub if you have time.

 

Perhaps i am from the other side of the hill from you, but still a Yorkshireman too.

Well, many years ago my Dad bought an old table from teh local paper, knocking the seller down as he did it. My mum gave him hell when he got home as she thought he'd underpaid, so he duly went back and gave them another £20.

Only when he cleaned it up some time later did he realise it was solid Walnut. Seats twelve.
