That looks spot on ... solves the problem the eple hook and captain have of being limited to small anchors ... found the captains throat so small it was virtually useless as a climbing aid for traversing , the epple much better and one of my favourite bits of kit is still limited unless you can get lucky and snare the rope from the other side and choke.

looks ingenious that does...

I have a few fall arresters knocking about, I was gonna take the large hooks off'a them and try those..

I do have a captain hook, bought it a year or so back after watching a utube vid..  never used it in anger yet mind..   somethin I've been workin on of late was rigging..  in that regards I bought an endless rope wrench that turned up just the other day..   marvelous bit of kit..  thats gonna come in useful one day as well..

anyone else like me, see a gizmo and get all exited to have it, get it then totally lose interest in the damned thing..

I struggle with knots, can’t seem to get them right.... ever!!! They always seem to turn out and operate like a noose ?
I may put this in the gizmo section.... emoji848.png vesp, wana buy it?!

No, I can make those all on my own thanks..

By the way, I'm talking in general..  could be anything..  you see it, get exited to get it, save for it even. but once you have it, you don't really care for it...

I have managed without any of these extra gadgets, then end up in a tree thinking a hook of some kind would be useful. Had considered the Captain but seems pricey for what is is and how often I would use it. Interesting to read about the captains limitations. I seem to manage OK climbing on a HC and vt, not very techno but simple.
