Hi guys, I was practicing my climbing in my local park as its been a while since I did my cs38 and want to do my cs39 next year, so I need the practice. Anyway a guy got chatting to me and said he was an ex copper and to watch out as I might get nicked for using park trees, now im not sure if that's true, or if the bloke was indeed a copper, either way where would be the best place to climb? I don't know anyone with private land so that is not an option. Any guidance would be helpful, thanks.

Whenever someone asserts that the law is a certain way, ask what the legal authority is for the assertion.

I use to practice in the woods on big beech trees when I was starting out...no bother there.

I cant imagine you getting nicked for climbing trees in a park, maybe told to leave by the park warden but not nicked

I can understand why people don’t want you to climb trees in a local park.

Go onto the woods, but go with someone else or tell someone where you’re going for safety reasons.

As Mick says find a remote woods and practice there with a spotter.

Surely its a no brainer why you shouldn't climb in a local park and I agree with it.

As long as you're not damaging the trees,
You ARE allowed to climb trees in public parks.
We do it all the time.

So its OK for someone to be climbing around a tree while Joe public wonders underneath it?
