Unqualified and zero experience guy dismantle a tree using arb climbing methods ?

they can laugh all they want. it's rare when i get a tradesman in. finding a good one is difficult and even when you do you have to wait ages. only last week i put a new mains point in

I would imagine their fori (is that the right plural) are awash with P taking comments about the stuff we probably all do (I know I am guilty) - because it's not that difficult for us.

 

It's probably as well you can't buy dynamite on ebay. 

When you take a look at the comments on here, and elsewhere, about the standard of workmanship of some 'professional' car dealers are DIYers any worse? I've certainly found fault with professionally done gas and electric work (as well as had excellent service from other pros).

 

I also expect there's youtube videos about making dynamite.

Most of us practical types are, or can be if need be, Jacks of all trades and master of none/one/some. Most tasks simply don't require a master's level of skill anyway so why pay for it? Never been easier with YouTube to figure stuff out. And the gear for all trades is getting cheaper all the time, with the notable exception of climbing Arb.

Can'T fault a man for trying - but as we know, the hidden hazards with aerial tree work ain't to be taken lightly. But I started out knowing nothing an worked my way up. ( befr the interweb ) K

So why should we be surprised that some people feel the same about tree work??

Our job is easy.

If your ok with heights,can work in extremes of temperature/weather,if you can adhere to health and safety regulations,if you can keep yourself fit and energetic,if you have a can/will do attitude,if you can deal with idiots/general public whilst biting your lip,smiling and being pleasant,if you can fix any type of arb machinery on site with gaffa tape,chewing gum and a adjustable spanner,if you can organise a bunch of still half pissed from the weekend guys who couldnt run a bath never mind run a 4 man crew,deal with the day too day logistics when you feel life is conspiring against you.

If you can do that then yeah arb work.is an absolute doddle...

Reminds me of that youtube video was posted on here of that  guy that looked like harrison ford that dismantles a big tree with hardly any  equipment & with a weird home made remote controlled chainsaw rig.

Most weekend warrior tree workers have the sense to say no when it comes to chopping the odd tree, explains why there ain't hundreds of accidents every other week..

 

having said that, I think most people who attempt tree work for the first time soon realize whats being taken on after they cut the first lower branches..  nothing like cutting off a branch that looks like it might weigh no more than a bag of sugar to suddenly realize a heavy sack of scaffold couplings has just missed your head..
