mx 220vs tw 150

looking at both at the momment but the schiesling is a 10 years old refurb, for nearly the same price i can get an ex demo timberwolf 150 with 30 hours...

I can apreciate the quality but what makes this machine a cut above i have only used one once and can see no major differance in chipping speed or performance but the machine i used was very tired so i guess no real acid test against a tw.... but is a 10 year old machine really worth the 8 K? i can get a 10 year old refurbed entec for 4000

whats been refurbed on the 220 ,the chipper & the engine or just the chipper & refurbed to what extent & how many hrs has done ???

I wouldnt waste my money on a schliesing of any age. Great machines, but overpriced in my opinion. Timberwolf support in this area seems pretty good. They arent my favourite chippers, but for the money its probably the better bet.

I have an old vermeer- its tatty looking, but chips fast and relentlessly and doesnt break down......well it probably will nowLOL. The point is i would rather buy a good second hand machine over a cheap new one. As many of you know i am not the worlds biggest TW fan, but that honestly has nothing to do with this point. However, in this case i think i would probably go for the TW as the age difference is massive. If the schleising has been properly and fully refurbed, not just resprayed as it were, then that would win for me hands down. I would be checking for metal fatigue, evidence ofcracking at weld points etc etc, but dont be blinded by the name. If the schleising has had a hard life for all those hours it could be a nightmare, even though it was an excellent machine when new.

Difficult choice mate.

Id opt for the 150 great chippers and youll be getting warranty,we run a 190 with 700 hours on it gives us next to no trouble and of it does go wrong you can fix most things yourself,plus your buying british always a good thing.

they are two very different machines i would go for a tw 190 much better and you can get one for 7k. I have had quite few chippers the blade changing on the tw 190 is by far the best of them all. Takes about 10 min from start to finish.

 

I had a schiesling 400zx on the mog was awsome i used the 220 quite a bit in germany was very good but didnt realy spit the chips to the back of the lorry.

I would nt touch the Schiesling. Any I have encountered have been unreliable and expensive to repair.TW on the other hand great little machines robust and cheap and easy to fix with great support from the factory

We used to run T/W150's and got that sick of them breaking down we swapped to Jensen and schiesling's, and never had a fraction of the problems. Does ratner ring a bell?
