Quite often it's people who hate themselves who are most hatefully vocal, whether they are concious of it or not.

 

Have you ever met a genuinely happy person who talks negatively about others alot?

 

I reckon it's usually a vain attempt to make themselves feel better, but all it really does is make things worse.

The majority of people who make a song and dance of being genuinely happy are often fighting depression in my experience.

I can quite believe that, but depression and being hateful are different things.

Genuinely happy people don't "make a song and dance" about it. They just get on with life.

 

Its the same with most things, those who feel the need to tell you they "a real grafter" "well hard" "the best climber ever" etc, etc, are IME the complete opposite. They are trying to convince themselves more than you.
