It's the "Smack break" level of character on there that annoys me. Nearly all of the Facebook tree pages have turned into the equivalent of the wild West. A bunch of blokes who will moan that people are devaluing the industry then post videos of themselves at work, devaluing the industry

Spot on, Tommy. Several of them seem to be running an undeclared competition for being as abusive as you can to people you don't know. I think the attraction of Facebook is that it's less regulated on some pages than Arbtalk, so the playground mentalities can thrive, plus it's a one-stop shop for personal and work life discussion.

Odd that we have a highly technical , hazardous , finely researched  and published industry that such clowns can walk right in , then become popular with online crap , K

Good thing with FB is that anyone can start a group. If that particular group becomes infested with Deek heads, then another group can appear with the good guys.

Forums just tend to stagnate with Deekheads.

It’s an ongoing debate. Personally I find very little worthwhile on the FB sites, a few laughs at best.

Different strokes and all that.

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.

See you inside.
