'Phone call at 7am from local Golf & Leisure club / Hotel. Manager besides himself with sleeplessness (sure sure!) following the obliteration of 3 cars (1 pictured) in his car park from recent high winds. One of 10 mature beeches throws a wobbler - local farmer clears it up. All the other 9 are approx 100' high and minimum 30" dbh (pics don't show size v well) and he wants all removed. Ok, I'll contact the TO to check and we'll go from there. Put quote in pending TPO / Conservation check. Asks me to come back to discuss going ahead. First he wants to raise £800 from the timber (might be do-able; might all be rotten) then informs me that my price for felling was way over! So how much have you been quoted may I ask? £100.00 per tree.

 

That's chipping included etc (mine was to cut and chuck 5 of them, rig the others for the DZ)

That's crazy cheap - and I suppose that's to leave all the larger wood behind for your man to sell....

I'd do them for 100 a tree, reckon I could get both of those golf carts in pic 4 with 8 trees to practice with. Ask him to check quotes are for the same thing, and move on!

I would deffo not walk away from that job.

 

At £100 a tree I would make sure I stayed and watched how they did it!

£100 / tree will pay some one to chip it up....

 

You can do tree surgery for nothing these days.....

Well as the saying goes you get what you pay for, I'd still want more than £100 a tree chipped up even if it was clear enough just to fell them, ah well as has been said he'll find out will probably cost more in the long run
