Just stuck a new Oregon 18” speedcut bar and chain on my 2nd 550xp. It cuts like a banana, chain tension is fine and looks bar looks straight to my eye.

Any suggestions?

Any chance the narrow kerf on a standard sprocket is causing an issue?

It’s not a problem with the 15” Sugi narrow kerf bar on the other 550xp though...

Uneven chain sharpening by the manufacturer perhaps.

Try another chain on the bar and see.

If its still cutting like a banana then it might be a bar issue.

Are you forcing the saw or holding it.

Sometimes user error can result is "scewif" cutting ime.

That would be my hunch. If not that just hold a square up to the edge of the bar to check it's machined square.

Even a sloppy new chain shouldn’t cut too pissed.

My money is on a mismatch of chain and bar, supplier error.

This . .043 drivers in .58 wide bar groove would do that , for example .

Can you post some pictures up of the chain, both sides and the bar, including the specifications stamped on the bar? At least we can then determine if it is the correct match.

There is no way of saying this without sounding patronising but are you sure the chain is in good shape ie it isn't blunt on one side?  Most of the time it is the chain rather than the bar that is at fault. A bent bar usually just jams up in the cut.

well the speedcut bar and 95vxl chain are designed to go with each other, so shouldn't be the problem.

Mine does this to. I can't rule out hasty field sharpening though.

I both bar and chain are 0.050.

Really quick setup otherwise.
