Burley stoves absolutely kick out the heat but need nigh on perfect wood to burn well. Once you suss them out they are great. However, they are very very unforgiving of anything even slightly damp, so given the choice would I buy again, maybe, but the clear view 500, which I've seen in action and seen the fuel put in it is a top end appliance that would be very tempting next time.

We've got a 5k Stovax- but have had a few issues with it. Can't shut it down for love or money and was roaring away without being able to do something about it, dealer said it's meant to be like that as it's got a clean burn kit fitted- I could nt live with it so took an angle grinder to it and cut the lug off that stopped it shutting down.

Also door never made a good seal which no doubt contributed to the overfiring. So had to make up my own packing to get a tighter fit.

So in short I wouldn't buy it again I don't think- I really like the AgaL Little Wenlock- family member have them and one is 30 years old and still doing a great job:thumbup1:

I got two stoves installed last year - a Burley 8KW and a Heta Inspire 45 5kw.

The Heta feels better made, but the Burley burns more efficiently, will take a bigger log and really punts the heat out. Also the Burley has some better design elements - for example, ash falls out of the Heta when reloading onto a ledge beneath the door and clogs the door. Ash that falls out of the Burley (which really isn't much, don't think I've emptied it once yet!) falls on the floor out of the way. The Burley was also a bit cheaper.

The Heta is a good stove - especially if you just want a small fire to look pretty (though it does heat well for its size). The Burley is a no frills stove for if you want a lot of heat. I've not found it to be too sensitive to what wood I feed it either - but maybe that's because I only feed it dry wood!

Just to add, I've never tried keeping either in overnight. I imagine the Heta would do it with coal (it's multifuel), but probably not wood. Can't see the Burley doing it - it's quite hungry as it has a big firebox - but as said, I've not actually tried.

My Burley "stays in " in the form of glowing embers . I agree they kick out more than there nominal KW figure .
