That's good going. When did you put the toms out in the greenhouse? Mine are 2" tall and I thought they were ahead of schedule.

A week ago, all seems OK, got the peppers and cucumbers out now. I hate it when the toms go all leggy and the first truss is a couple of foot off the deck. Best get the toms in with loads of light to get a much lower truss and a bushy plant.

I'm getting into gardening this year - been researching something called bio char which doesn't seem that well known about... but they used it centuries ago in the Amazon. I'll post up progress here but in short you mash up some unadulterated charcoal - inoculate it with microbes [you can do this by creating compost and mixing]. Then add it in a ratio of around 10% to your soil.

If you're feeling keen then you can watch this vid here - I am almost set up to make my first batch.

Frost has scorched my toms this last week in my poly tunnel. I don't think it has been doing my apple blossom much good either. Frostiest April since they started recording in the 60's and my apples have been trying to blossom for most of it.

Any ideas what's caused this on my spuds? Went to work this morning, frosty but nothing dramatic at 2 degrees, same as yesterday Two varieties,  Alloutte, whites and Clairette  reds. Looks almost like they've been sprayed, I used vinegar and salt yesterday on our drive but that's the other side of the garden from the infected ones. Plus breeze was coming from the direction of the spuds so.not that. Never had this before.

Thanks Gary, I did think that, hopefully they'll come back.

Mine got done last year like that, they were a bit further on than that, left em a day or two then carefully cut off the frost damage and still had a decent crop

Best of it is that my wife has planted out loads of geraniums, not touched by frost at all, usually they do get battered a bit. I'll trim them back tomorrow Gary. Thanks.
