No. What you can take from that is We've worked hard all our life's, and never claimed a Penny in benefits or child allowance or the likes. Most of the time being PAYE. Now I claim what is due to me.

Having worked hard from 15 years old to the present day never claiming benefits (except child benefit which would be stupid to give back just like not claiming what's due on your tax return) I get where you are coming from. But I don't see how small business can sustain paying people top money.

Utilities on the other hand I can't fathom why the workers are not on £500 a day!

We've had a road shut in lincoln for 4 weeks to widen a 100 yard stretch.

It's cost £500000 of which £300000 was for moving gas electricity and water pipes 12 yards.

Just a quick Q, when subbing do you charge different rates if you are grounding, climbing or cutting etc?

 

For me thats job and time dependant,120 a day for climbing rigging sectional felling etc.

Grounding tends to be an hourly rate for me as the firms i sub for usually have there own guys on the deck-in fact i could count on one hand the times ive worked on the deck over the last 18 months.

I never done forestry or coppicing so i couldnt comment on that side of things

What about weekend work if required? Shelf stackers are probably time and half do we stay at the same rate?

 

I'm happy to have weekends off so I ask time and a half. I can easily pick up fun casino jobs at the weekends where I get my normal day rate for about 4 hours so I'm not chasing arb work then. It's generally only when jobs can't be done during the week and the company employing me will be charging a premium because of that. :001_smile:

Never really gave it much though tbh,to me a days work is a days work-weekday or weekend doesnt matter.

Its a conscideration for other im sure though

I was the same rate even weekends ground work or climbing.

 

I understand your point a out shelf stacker although weekend work doesn't pay time and a half unless it goes over the 40 hour week. Shift patterns can provide bonuses.

 

just because it's weekend work doesn't mean the job value goes up by 50% if you want the extra day it's just another day rate with maybe a a little extra.

 

Each to their own though.
