I prefer to stand up for what I believe is right rather than roll with it and see it continue.

I think there's heaps of people that use "gay" as a negative for example, I find that unacceptable and whenever I confront a conversation partner with that fact face-to-face it's invariably agreed with. The use of the term is just so ingrained people don't see it as a problem.

just like people didn't see the use of the word nigger as an issue, or racism in general, but unless people stand up and say no, others will continue to get hurt needlessly.

I'm not gay, yet I find using the word as a negative unacceptable.

I'm not female, yet find negative terms like "throw like a girl" unacceptable.

I'm white, yet find the word nigger unacceptable

I've got black and gay mates, and even some girl mates. I had to think about that a bit, they're just my mates.

Yep, good on you, you're totally right. And worth pulling people up on.

 

Worth picking yer battles though, I.e Mr newton being pretty ironic and basically taking the piss out of people that would use the term "homo" is prob more of a dig at those people rather than at gays. But reckon you know that anyway.
