Repair cost

Well well

 

That's the first heavy repair cost on the grinder. Bearings and other parts needing changed.

 

Knew the day would come sooner or later.

 

Indeed going to be more careful now. Think I been to rough at times.

Yup, grinders are the very definition of an act of violence, and swapping a few bearings out is more "essential maintenance" than a repair.

I suppose though sometimes its a long hard grind, there's got to be a little tenderness involved too?

I think that bearings, along with belts and teeth can almost be considered as 'consumables' on a stump grinder as they will regularly need replacing. There are ways of setting teeth that are maybe less aggressive and prolong bearing life, but then grinding takes more time! You just have to factor such costs in as a percentage to every job as they are inevitable. Stump grinders are not cheap to buy, or run and maintain!

This is why Bandit chose to go hydraulic, all bearings, belts, clutch, linkages are all gone. Not so good for parts business though.
