File the hook into the shape below, then find something it fits and pull the tree over, :)

make a quick cut with the saw and jam the hook in, dont go too deep less you wreck some decent timber. I use the next size down from this bar for felling, and a big one with a hook for rolling, The little ones are mint, hit wedges in with it and then jam it in and stand on the back to get it over.

Evening all,

So I have one of these.

And whilst its ok as a felling lever using for anything else is pointless. The black hook just does not hold. What is wrong? What, if anything can, I do to fix/improve it. Or worst case what else should I buy?

Thanks

Chris

heres an even more radical idea......learn how to do a decent gob and back cut, the tree will go over itself, just a thought from the past

That has to be one of the most ignorant and useless posts I've ever read.

Often the tree is not weighted where it needs to fall, often I use a pulling line, but there are many, many occasions when our FL is just the ticket and speeds things up greatly.

We literally never leave the yard without it.

So, your telling me you take on jobs where there are obstacles in the way!? Mad.

Turned quite a few big bits of timber with a big felling lever, just kick the hook in in the right place.
