Do you actually like what you do?

I have been in Manufacturing, Sales and now I ma an infamous saw fixer and tuner. I am back in the workshop tomorrow with a bit of work waiting for me and have no regrets about being self employed and doing what I do.

Before I would have been sitting here, dreading the inevitable return to work with the new years targets and all the issues of corporate life - sales was the worst but I am now happy, the wife says I am easier to live with and thoroughly enjoy talking to you, my customers and aiming at 100% satisfaction.

So....YES, I enjoy what I do:thumbup:

Good to hear the replies on this thread. I've been working a well paid office job for the last 10 years but, having done physical outdoor jobs in uni summer holidays and almost joined the army, I'm desperate to get outdoors again. Hopefully 2017 will bring best of both worlds. I'm moving to 3 days a week in the office from Feb and filling the rest of my time up with tree work. (If anyone is near Bath and wants a hand PM me). I used to really enjoy much of my work, but fairly tired of it now. I've milled a lot of wood now, thousands of tonnes personally, and it becomes quite routine. That I can handle, but I find the interpersonal business/contractor relationships can be testing at times. It's sad how often people just don't hold up their end of the deal, or just quite simply don't understand the situation. Don't misunderstand - I'm not perfect, but I do generally try to work well and produce a good product.

Either way, work is work and when you've a family to provide for, you cannot be rash in making major changes. Planning and forethought are required.

Same as the above! Tree work rarely excites me these days and if I never cut another hedge I'd bee fine with that, my body is starting to show the signs of twenty seven years of lifting, and even though I've some good staff , it's the craft side of the business that gets me up every morning:thumbup:
