Mark,

 

Yours is a steel back and ally drop sides. One where they get powder coated then it drops off in big sheets and rots through easy. ( i wouldnt purchase one with a back like that as had a dyna the same)

 

I have a full steel back and is ok

 

A full ally back would be good

Think I'll probably go for a mk6 if I can find a decent one I want a single cab so load capacity won't be as bad as yours mark. If I can't find a decent one then it'll have to be mk7

That's cos it's a double cab, silly.

A single cab with an integral tool box will give a better payload.

 

Years ago I went on the scales with my crew cab, tools and woodchip.

You're right mate, and so is Al.

My single cab with no tool storage was a PITA though, but the DC was a mistake I'm stuck with.

I'll sort a new back out and stick with it though, as it's been good mechanically.

My tippers a double cab mk 7 with alloy sides, and is really good. You will have your work cut out finding a decent low mileage mk 6 , but not impossible.

There are plenty of mk 7s about, yes they are dear but if you find an owner driver one that's not had the guts thrashed out of it you should be ok.

Why a mistake Mark?

 

Either can type will be overloaded, so legally you're shafted anyway.

 

A double cab looks a lot more practical, for the same (illegal) capacity.

Not all mk6's are Direct Injection though.

 

I'd get mk6 with a DI
