  5. Yeah, far from ideal. Speaking as an immigrant myself, I absolutely agree that you should try and look after the Irish before worrying about refugees, but I've found that the only people shouting about it aren't really the sort to help other Irish people either.
  6. ye tricky alright, although as a non national living in ireland iam not about to get my pitch fork out. i think a lot of the more extreme stuff is being promoted by the same people who started the anti lockdown stuff, which i find the switch scary. that said another news article said there were 75 social houses for rent in cork and in 2 months they had 15k applicants!!
  7. First ones where at the yard 3 wk ago and only 3 of them and seen em every day, then last Saturday there was 5 and now there is about 20 of em, The pinkfooted geese have only just left this last wk and to think 8/10 days ago there was 10 - 12,000 feeding away 2 field,s behind my yard, geese are usualy nearly all gone by late march, then only so first brood of ducks about 10 days ago and thats late,,
  8. It's an interesting situation all right. I've had a few fraught conversations on the subject lately. Definitely some nasty ideas being pushed around more than they need to be.
  9. https://news.sky.com/story/how-international-social-media-users-are-stoking-irelands-migration-debate-13127034 thought this was interesting.
  10. Just wondering, is the wood for your own use, or to sell? If it's for your own use, is the plan with the barrow bags to wheel them direct into where the stove/boiler is? Are you filling them loose with a conveyor or hand stacked, what length are the logs cut to?

    Jokes???

Now there's another fond childhood memory. Building tunnels in hay barns. And trying, but never succeeding, in catching any of the hundreds of stray kittens that always lived in them. A few years later we did actually find something good in a neighbour's hay barn. Some different kind of pussies. His elder brother's "top shelf magazine" stash! Imagine our glee as 12 - 14 year olds.
  14. When I was a kid we were actively encouraged to have knives and guns, a lot different than today. Was given my first air rifle when aged 10 and my first shotgun aged 11. They were my guns and I was free to go off shooting unsupervised whenever I wanted. Can't say the shotgun got a great deal of use as we couldn't afford the shells, obviously. Even the air rifle pellets were limited and were bought in little paper type boxes of a couple of hundred. We would go picking strawberries or something in the summer, earn a few shillings and then wander off to the local shops and buy a penknife. Probably 6-7 years old at the time and nobody batted an eyelid. Nobody got stabbed or shot either, well not seriously anyway.

  16. That second line rings so true to me. I spent all my weekends and holiday time on the dairy farm over the road, from aged 12. Learnt to drive on Fordson Majors, and A35 van. Riding on the 3 point linkage on the road. First time of using a chainsaw I was left on my own cutting back overgrown hawthorn hedges. I was told to stand on the bonnet of the tractor so I could reach high enough, working on my own. No PPE, no chain brake, and no mobile. I survived. I wouldn't change anything if I had my early years again. PS No Playstations or X Boxes, whatever they are. Better off building tunnels with hay bales in the barn.
  17. Air flow is key. We have seasoned in cube m bags as long as you allow air flow through the stack and the rain off you will be fine. (I may have just been lucky) Stack them tight and get them wet you may have problems.

    Jokes???

We were much the same, about mile and quarter from bud stop to the farm. Got dropped there most mornings but walked back most days from about 7 year old. We used to ride in a trailer as the lift arms wouldn’t take 3 of us easily it never fails to amaze me how a lot of tree folk had similar practical upbringings
  19. Can anyone help with sourcing a part for Hyundai hyc6200x chainsaw. I need a new clutch drum rim sprocket but am finding it impossible to find. The saw runs the 20" bar, .325 -.058. I can find the clutch drum but not the sprocket. It's definitely there in expanded diagram but with no part number. Any help will relieve insanity.

  20. Hi all, someone kindly helped me out on another question I asked. But brought up another possible concern. I’m new to seasoning wood and have only been do it for 2 years and smallish amounts. I’ve been using vented barrow bags on well drained hardcore and not suffered any issues to date. But…..someone mentioned on the other question, that drying in bags will cause mould and not dry properly. Has anyone any advice? Is this likely to be an issue? I’ve 26t to dry out and tbh some are all ready below 20% but I don’t want to continue bagging up if it’s not right. Tia.
  21. Glad to see that he is still upholding his reputation. Boris Johnson turned away from polling station after forgetting to bring photo ID | Local elections 2024 | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Former PM made the requirement to bring photo ID a stipulation of the Elections Act in 2022

  23. i wasnt aware australia even had a "busy season", but i assume that means they all get off their arses and stop sitting on the beach and make some effort to do a days work?
  24. Mine spends most of its life with 8 tooth sprocket and 18" bar, cuts really fast so use that for ringing stuff up. It does ok on 7 tooth sprocket and 28" bar for chogging but don't need that so often.
