I bought some playchip for a large play area - bloke had certification and they perform a drop test on the chip seemed to me impact attenuation was more of a concern than splinters, he was feeding tree trunks into the chipper and straight into my truck, nice and fresh cut, so it didn't rot down for years Woodchips for play areas should be "Play Grade" and certified to meet the British Standard BS EN 1177 (or equivalent European standard) for safety surfacing. This certification ensures the woodchips have been tested to guarantee they are safe, free from contaminants, and provide impact attenuation to protect children from falls. You should look for products explicitly labeled as "Play Grade" or "Play Safe" and ensure they conform to BS EN 1177.

I quoted a mate for a job a while ago, chip stays if he wants it for his son's play area. Sycamore and ash. Was it playground safe? Oh fckoff. I’ll remind him of that when his son announces he’s marrying an electrician.

Top 10 most popular wood-burning and multifuel stoves

It always amazes me that Burley woodburners never get a mention I have the Brampton9108, so simple to use and a great heat producer -
That makes sense. My main message was process it straight off the mill rather than look at long lengths for a while, trying to puzzle unrealised value out of them.

Got it March ‘22

Playground mulch/bark chip is usually peeled from the log so there are no splinters.
-
If you're not going to mulch it, then to me, the only way forward is a trailer to get it home in bundles, and a proper sawbench to log it. Been there.................

Thanks for all the thoughts chaps, much appreciated. Seems that hire companies vary in what they expect a hirer to do before returning an item. Let's have a go at replying to all without quotes: Mick: True, but are their charges fair was the question. Joe: A similar point of view to me. MesterH, NJA: It looks awfully like a generic safety cut out fitted to all manner of equipment, and I'd expect them to have a boxful in the workshop. Hire insurance would obviously be an idea, but it was never offered, or mentioned. David: Agreed, but I wasn't notified of any terms on hiring. Yes, my mistake, but I'm a trusting little soul. Doobin,Oldfeller: : Agreed. Thanks again chaps, not the end of the world, but safe to say I/we won't be dealing with them in the future.

Straight into chipper and sell as garden/playground mulch? Barky so possibly better for that.

Yup, if you look at the map (below for handy reference), you will see Israel surrounded by its friendly neighbours. Never had any trouble between any of them, there would be peace in the region...

Bullshit

Timberwolf charge £100 plus for the switch, exact same switch is available for under £7 elsewhere, I wonder which one they fitted? I have the same switch on my lathe.
-
I was asking as as was interested in your opinion but it's not that important so don't worry about it.

Morning all, Fine day here so far. Happy weekend.
-
Well you may as well try to carefully dig up one of the suckers and replant it next month then.
-
You've got to try it to know. There are definitely easier ways to earn money, but also much more boring ones. On the plus side, compared to even 10 years ago there's a lot more mechanisation in the industry , and climbing techniques are kinder on the body. Maybe it varies where you are in the country, but always seems to be demand for reliable people round here.
-
It is very slow and makes it difficult to mow around.

Sorry I missed the layering bit, what failed with it. It was the normal method for propagating hazel coppice which was sparse.
-
If sold cheap then maybe it'll garner some interest
-
Yes you could stamp on the bottom of one of the smaller shoots and lay it down and peg it to an area of bare soil six foot from the main stool for a couple of years.
-
Did you read my post? I've tried layering but it's not working
