That most certainly isn't an option. -

I've just had a horrible flashback to the time I bought an Atlas tipper trailer in 2012 which despite the instance of the dealer, didn't in fact conform. What followed was 9 months or more of visiting to the DREAL also known as the 'MINE' by some French. We had to assemble a dossier of every CofC for each component of the running gear. I eventually asked if they wanted a CofC for the air in the tyres. Now a trailer is simple enough but your machine doesn't conform in other ways other than merely running gear so avoid the DREAL route is my advice. -
Yes would be free. It comes in bundles around 3m long and 1.2m diameter

Importing a Greenmech CM200MT40 into France

To add... The registration process is done online via ANTS. Accueil Immatriculation - Immatriculation - France Titres (ANTS) IMMATRICULATION.ANTS.GOUV.FR Other than your usual i.d and proof of residency, you need to upload your CofC for the machine. Very simple process. One thought, perhaps GM could supply a chassis which conforms...? -

Hello, I've imported several chippers into France and helped several of my French colleagues do the same. I've sadly no idea (post Brexit) on how to obtain a phytosanitaire certificate as this was something that was of no concern beforehand or even if it concerns road tow machines. I suspect tracked chippers, tractors, diggers and other earth moving machinery are obvious candidates. Just to throw another obstacle into the mix, your machine does not confirm to E.U norms and most likely cannot be made too either. Neither can a used non-conforming machine be (legally) sold in France. Less important if it's for your own use but important if anyone else is using it as one important modification was increasing the length of the infeed chute to reduce the risk of 'foot feeders' losing an appendage. Some manufacturers have made kits with which to upgrade machines but only the more recent higher volume models. Regardless, I have a colleague who against my advice bought a UK chipper which was pre CofC and found he couldn't register it as a result. He had a custom chassis made costing around €4k, still cheaper than buying the same machine used in France. Where are you setting up in France? Regards Stuart -
Hello, I need advice here. I have a birch tree in my front yard. I was thinking about removing this birch tree that is about 40 years old. I plan on having an arborist look at it soon. It is about 15 feet away from my foundation. I believe it is right above a main sewer line in my basement. Are there any risks to getting this removed? I worry about a sinkhole as well? Anything I should be cautious about?

sandspider started following Firewood from sawmill waste

Would a ton bundle fit in the boot of an estate car? And is it all barky, or is there a reasonable amount of solid wood? Would it be lots of conifer, or mixed all sorts? Thanks
-
They are parasites Dan. The sooner the public realise this the better.

My business is a sawmill. We find very little demand for our waste. As has been said a lot of it is rather thin. It is all unseasoned and in long lengths, so needs a lot of processing and drying for a year. Most people just can’t be bothered. Even at £25 per ton bundle we can’t get rid of it all. If I were prepared to deliver I might get more takers, but at that price it is just not worth it. So lots of good potential firewood, but not enough people willing to put in the effort to convert and dry.

Yes, bacterial canker. Interesting to see shot from further back - those shots have epicormic sprouting which is not quite normal in healthy hc. Keep watching, can be slow decline and eventually canopy starts dying back - have removed a couple in our village with this.

I used bark a little bit when starting out, used to click the cheeky leads nobody answered for £3 so worth a punt. They pushed it up so far nowadays it's £30-35, just to get the customer phone number to find out what the job is or even if there is a job. Gone bonkers.

Crowdfunder for the Waxy Lemon's 'legal fees', incoming. He's probably on license from jail still.

Poss bacterial canker of chestnut?

Hi Came across this today and it’s something I’ve never seen before. Tree has a good healthy looking canopy. Any thoughts on what might be going on here? Thanks in advance

Walked passed these while shutting a gate by a farm. Not something you see very often, I did wonder about making a bid.... yonks ago, Denn8ngs of Chard used to fit surplus Spitfire and Hurricane wheels to their mobile saw benches.

Does anyone know where I can get ibc crates from in the south West? Looking to buy in bulk but can take smaller loads

Yes but most parks will not be registered common land and neither is CRoW access land. Often common land is also covered by local byelaws, mind I am not aware of a byelaw covering climbing trees, free climbing was a boyhood activity on the common here. -
Potato crates? They have small gaps to allow airflow but still keep the wood in, would depend if you had a method of moving them once full
-
Just wondering if anyone has had experience getting waste from sawmills that they process into firewood? Would be interested if this would be a viable source of timber?

Very nice. Wish my body was 20 years younger still! Used to enjoy that stuff.
