Christmas tree weeding

wow - it's your lucky day - some guys have written a whole 50 page booklet 'weed control in Christmas tree plantations'. Merry Christmas https://cdn.forestresearch.gov.uk/2022/04/fcfb015.pdf -
Clinton_Baptiste started following Petzl connection ring sizes
-
I'm using a Sequoia harness with 2 bridges and I want to fit a connection ring on each one. The bridge that came on the harness is a size 'M' (45cm), about 10 or 11mm thick so I just added another one the same to match it as it seemed fine when I climbed on it. Petzl connection rings come in size S (28mm internal diameter) or L (46mm internal diameter), but I can't find it stated anywhere which size ring would be best to use on those bridges. By my reckoning the small ring ought to be big enough to accomodate the thickness of the bridge itself plus the thickness of a karabiner with a few mm to spare, so is that the one to go for? Or am I missing other potential uses for which I'd need the extra internal diameter of the bigger ring(s)?

Joe Newton started following Learning rigging

*Puts on helmet to prepare for the inevitable collision with a brick wall* Firstly, the customer does not get an option wether to pay for aerial rescue provision/someone to rig for you. Climbing solo is generally frowned upon, and frankly you've nowhere near the experience to be messing about like that. You've stated that you have no comprehension of the strength of the ropes needed and the forces involved. This is a fairly considerable part of what your rigging course will teach you, if you listen. In the meanwhile, the candidate curriculum for the rigging course is freely available on the City & Guilds website. Download it and take a look. The Technical Guide for Rigging and Dismantling operations (TG3) is available as either an E-book or hard copy from the Arb Association website. This includes the up to date industry best practice and is largely what the Rigging course is based upon.

Part of an ongoing woodland job recoppicing some old mainly hornbeam hedgerow stocks. This section has quite a deep and wide (thankfully dry) ditch behind it, backing onto a cultivated field. Some leaners will pull, some won’t. Anything sent into the ditch won’t pull out because it will prong into the bank. WQ and a handy oak tree and voila! Crane-tastic! IMG_1714.mov

Not a terrorist, just a murderer.
-
If you follow this forum, all reported acts of terrorism, all reported crimes are from a very narrow demographic, and are pretty much all reported by JohnsonD. Have to question why this bias is if it isn't one based on a racist view of the world, when in reality all races and religions have murderers and arseholes.. just we never get to read about them on this arb forum.
-
Ok, can somebody please explain something to me. How is this a terrorist attack? Which terrorist group did he belong to? Who is their leader? What is their aim/ideology? What other terrorist attacks has this terrorist group carried out?
-
Well in the past, you have form for doing the opposite to what has been suggested. Its all good though, some people prefer to learn from their own experiences. Others (me included) preferred to learn from others who have been there, done that and got the badge and T-shirt. Hence finding someone who could act as a mentor is a great idea. where about’s in the country are you based?

I condemn them all unfortunately there are far more by a huge margin coming from those following the religion of peace. Prove me wrong 🤷♂️

I read it you quoted the one guy I quoted the many
-
When people don't condemn all acts of terrorism they are siding with just one.
-
Is that you just search for something without thinking and just post it up. Go back and reread it.

Splitting of weight across a tree (2 rigging points) lowering of a branch off itself (does that count as negative rigging?) Rope placement and cuts to swing a horizontal branch round off a roof (no need for spider legs etc.) Tag lines to avoid excessive swing. And…you knew it was coming, natural crotch rigging for small/medium work.

There is an old saying which indirectly tells about soil fertility. " Gold under gorse Bronze under bracken hunger under heather" so heather grows where the fertility is low, it has a way of locking all the available nitrogen into the plant. Bracken thrives where there is a bit of potassium, I often notice it along one of the trees we left as standing dead when it has fallen down and started to rot. Gorse grows where there is available potassium and Phosphorus and can make its own nitrogen as it is a legume. It's more nuanced than that in reality as there are lots of other things that influence but the old farmers knew a bit. Heath developed where much of the available minerals for growth had walked off the site into the farmers adjacent fields after a bit of free grazing.

🤔You really want to go there, you can stick the Southport killings in there too. Since 2005, major terror attacks by Islamic extremists in the UK have caused over 100 fatalities . The deadliest incidents were the 2005 London bombings and the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing. Notable attacks by year 2005: 7/7 London bombings Deaths: 52 victims, plus the four bombers. Target: The London public transport system during the morning rush hour. Details: Coordinated suicide attacks struck three London Underground trains and one double-decker bus. The bombers were British citizens inspired by al-Qaeda. 2013: Murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby Deaths: 1 victim. Target: British Army soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich, London. Details: Two Islamic extremists ran Rigby over with a car before attacking him with a knife. The attackers were sentenced to life in prison. 2017: Westminster attack Deaths: 5 victims, plus the attacker. Target: The area around the Houses of Parliament. Details: An Islamist extremist drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before crashing and stabbing a police officer. It was the first attack to cause multiple fatalities since the 2005 bombings. 2017: Manchester Arena bombing Deaths: 22 victims, plus the assailant. Target: An Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena. Details: An Islamic extremist suicide bomber detonated a nail bomb at the end of the concert. The incident caused more than 1,000 injuries and was the second-deadliest terror attack in the UK since 1970. 2017: London Bridge and Borough Market attack Deaths: 8 victims, plus the three attackers. Target: Pedestrians on London Bridge and patrons in the nearby Borough Market. Details: Three attackers used a van to hit pedestrians before getting out and stabbing people in the market. The perpetrators were shot dead by police. 2017: Finsbury Park attack Deaths: 1 victim, a man who had collapsed before the attack. Target: Muslim worshippers near a mosque in Finsbury Park. Details: A man drove a van into a crowd of people. Though the attacker was motivated by far-right views, the incident was initially listed on a timeline of events that included Islamic extremist attacks. 2019: London Bridge stabbings Deaths: 2 victims, plus the attacker. Target: Members of the public near London Bridge. Details: A man, who had been convicted of a previous terror offense, stabbed several people at an event before being shot dead by police. 2020: Reading stabbings Deaths: 3 victims. Target: People in a park in Reading. Details: A man with a known history of terrorism-related activity attacked people with a knife. What the above would indicate is that the indigenous population of the UK is a far more tolerant and welcoming society than those whom come here and follow that religion of peace we hear so much about and pander too. A ratio.of 100-1 🤷♂️

What’s causing the bolts to shear? Should be easily fixed. It’s not like the hydraulic pump has shit itself in the first week, it’s teething issues. From the way you’re going off on one it doesn’t sound like you’ve bought tons of new machines as you claim. This is a minor issue. You should try a Bobcat or Antonio Carrarro if you want issues!

Like Darren Osborne?

I, for one, hadn't realised quite how important a role trace elements like potassium, phosphorus and nitrogen played in determining the ecology of a habitat. Interesting.
-
Nope that’s a proper mess by the sounds of it, and if confirmed something that has to be lived with. But as you say until those with certain beliefs or ideology stop the indiscriminate violence and killing then these things can tragically happen.

Very informative, thanks.
