I was asked about a month ago how my apple crop was doing, I just said it was looking good and I was about halfway through picking them. Their response was to say well done. My missus put them right at that point.

3rd is an oak, leaves look similar to a pin oak thats opposite my house, but the Plantnet app on my phone says black oak from your picture, I've not seen enough to know the difference.

Been having some interesting discussions about it and Husky Power 2 pre mix. Have been buying 25L cans of power 2 and power 4 but we are wondering if that is why the piston in the 440 has grenaded. Theory being the fuel burns slightly hotter and thus when the 440 was used for a abnormally long period a couple weeks back it got hot enough to expose the manufacturing flaws in the aftermarket piston. Tbh I'll keep running it in the other stuff but the Dolmar is going to get E5 with a 40-1 mix of stihl HP, too nicer toy to risk. I'm trying to convince/lure him back onto the tinterwebs 🤣 I will pass on everyone's regards.

Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer- (Nematode drench) applied as a root drench should deal with the larvae happily munching away at the roots and is food crop safe/approved too.The adults leaf edge nibbling habit is superficial and unimportant I would say.

Trouble is I'm not a woodsman and unfortunately petrol tools seemingly don't like being put in storage with modern fuel, so best avoided as much as I can. I tend to use the 440 once a month normally either to cut sleepers, knock off the odd branch to get the digger in or do a bit of demolition of boardwalks etc. (yes, not the right tool, yada yada it works). Currently I've got the "shit" 038 farm boss as a spare, and the 440 (undergoing heart surgery)

Hello guys back again with a confusing tree I saw on the way to dove stones today (north england) So i took photos eager to look it up in my back this evening however im confused (as always) so the first tree im pretty confident is whitebeam however the second may also be whitebeam but maybe a hybrid ? its not the first time ive seen these two tree growing next to each other, I also came across it on my my to work yesterday morning (Manchester) Has anyone got any ideas what the second tree might be if not whitebeam, surely there both sorbus at the very least ? Ive also tagged another photo on the end that I've not looked up yet in my book … it was just on its own and there was no other kind for miles round, wierd … must be maple family right ?

Yes this 👍 I use stihl battery blower 95% of the time, Echo PB770 for big clear ups. stihl quality is definitely dropping - the hedge cutter heads for the KM are made of cheese 😡 Use till out of warranty then sell and replace

Yes. The local chainsaw shop seems to be selling a lot more 525 husky blowers. I have a little husky blower that is teamed up the br700. The husky one seems to be as good

As promised and on the basis that I was told twice earlier in the week that "there are a few people that would appreciate seeing photos of that" here's some photos of the 166. I was offered it randomly as my 440 Stihl I abuse has suffered from the piston identifying as a grenade and is "dead" upon moaning about it a mate proclaimed "I've a big saw here I keep meaning to get shot of"..... It was secreted in a corner and rather dusty. We threw some petrol in it and it started 5-6th pull. I'm not sure why, but it felt right and although I'm not a fan of multiple saws I decided I'd have it.... Although I wasn't keen on paying much for a obsolete saw (I knew it would be a abuse and forget saw with non existent parts). I'm not going to say a price, but it was quite a bit under £500. Yes, I know I'm very very lucky. I then rang DTC (Dartmoor Timber Cutter).... "I just want to know how badly I've wasted my money on this 166 Dolmar?" To be told F*** off along with do you mean a 116 and "send a photo". Total honesty occured and I'm greatful to a cracking friend for the advice. Many would of told me it was obsolete and then tried to buy it for a small amount more. So I now had a choice.... Clearly it needs to either be kept for best or sold.... Cashing out is tempting BUT I'm not a lover of people with massive collections who's goal is to buy literally everything and hide it away 😳 and alas that is who's going to pay top dollar for the saw.... Having had a very nice rare tractor in the family that was sold to a "collector" who sold up 2 years later and was unbelievably arrogant when I made contact to ask for a price prior to the auction on it I severely dislike the private collection types. So I'm keeping it (DTC has first refusal if I ever sell) It's going to sit in my living room at home and occasionally will come out and do the odd job. I do intend to take it occasionally to vintage rallies I intend to frequent with classic plant (think cromford, Torquay etc). Onto the saw it's a beast. If anyone has a chain brake/cover kicking around I'm after one as this one has obviously had a brake drum retention issue in the past. Also attached are some photos of a Johnston that I've given to DTC as a thankyou. It was ultimately destined for the skip but Its been on a shelf for a decade because it looked too nice to throw away. Hopefully he can get it going. Hope this thread is of interest and if anyone wants photos of anything in particular let me know.
