Quite possibly, does this machine have a purge bulb? If so have you connected the pipes up in the correct orientation? remember it’s a purge so pulls fuel from the carb and dumps back to tank, not pumping fuel into the carb.

Want to see how far up the spike is. I tried ally gecko years ago and didn't like for that reason. My steel bashlins the spike is very close to the level of the bottom of your foot on short gaffs. Love them
