  1. Past hour
  2. Too feckin' late now I bought one pretty amazing when you consider they likely all come from the same ting tong factory?
  3. The joys of 10mm plugs, seen 550/560 blow them out.
  4. My son has the Stihl coms on his titfer .
  5. I think it said they’d managed to sew it back on.
  6. F..k! Bet that smarted a tad 🤮
  7. It's also an option for branches with the blade I indicated. A couple of folk have been grateful for that suggestion. I've just cleared what felt like half a mile of eight year old mainly volunteer thorn regrowth from a dyke bank with that outfit. I did use it with the blade in the air at times, and not on the floor. Don't know if that breaks safety guidelines. Re damage, that blade, while not indestructible, is very resistant to damage, and basically only needs a round file to give it a quick sharpen. I've never had problems with wire, as it cuts straight through every one I've ever met. Re Kombi tools, you are undoubtedly correct that a dedicated machine will be better, but will also be far costlier, and my pockets are shallow. To press, I've never damaged a drive system on one, except the bevel gears on a hedgecutter.
  8. Today
  9. I've done that with a car engine (Subaru 1800 turbo) . Near bdc on the induction stroke pump grease in. Bring piston up until grease at bottom of plug hole. Tap thread, screw in helicopter, break tang then bring piston to tdc to eject grease with tang and swarf. Spin engine with plug out to expell excess grease. Not worth doing with a chainsaw engine when you can pull the pot so easily. Well worth using the special helicoil stepped tap to ensure it goes in straight.
  10. No , the Stihl and Oregon are the same. Husqvarna is different.
  11. Late summer is after fruiting, and to avoid damp conditions in autumn as silver leaf likes the damp. I always say "well the books will tell you..... " and then go on to say mostly we ignore that and do trees whenever we get to them else we'd be hungry 6 months of the year. In any case I'm not sure that there is actually that much risk of silver leaf in the average garden, it's more of a stone fruit orchard problem. The spores are released from fruiting bodies on dead wood, so gardens being tidy there isn't much about. Silver Leaf Diagnosis & Treatment | Ashridge Blog WWW.ASHRIDGETREES.CO.UK There is no need to be afraid of Silver Leaf disease, which rarely affects Cherry and...
  12. Alot of sprockets are harder to get hold of now , due to oregon buying up alot of its rivals, so where has ud get a rim and sprocket -more found on pro or saws of a certain cc... you will find it hard to cross over chains bars ,sprockets and stuff like that . It was a tosser going from 058 to 050 recently on an echo 37cc pro saw
  13. Thats a lot of wear on a modeately used saw. Something isn't right I suspect. Is it the right sized sprocket ? Does the chain move easily on the bar ? Is the chain over tight ? Is the bars nose sprocket ok /free spinning ? The Difference Between Stihl Chainsaw Rim and Spur Sprockets | L&S WWW.LSENGINEERS.CO.UK
  14. This popped up on one of the gardening FB groups I’m in. If you were wondering, the answer is YES, and in a split second.
  15. Do not buy this it is crap !
  16. Its either not been tightened fully or had dirt in the thread - making it feel tight but still being loose. I had the same on my CBR600 motorbike. Should be quite easy to helicoil. Best to pull the cylinder off first so it can be reassembled clean, but on the CBR6 I helicoiled all four in situ as getting a 4T bike engine apart and back together is a fairly huge job. If you do it with the saw assembled, set the engine with exhaust port open, use plenty of grease on the tap to catch any swarf then flush it out with 2t mix fuel.
  17. Personally I think you are on the right track. I'd get a battery hedgecutter to match either of your battery systems. I've used the Makita LXT one (DUH506) is excellent. Makita claim it can cut up to 20mm. That said I would keep your battery shears on a toolbelt for the big ones. I dont know the Einhell one or the longreach Makita one. If I was buying longreach it would be petrol. Keep the blades sharp.
