  1. Past hour
  2. Sorry, no piccies, but this wasn't a planned event. Storm damage. A whacking great tree fell down across the road about half a mile from me, stopping the dearly beloved and I from going shopping. Cue turning round, and throwing some kit in the van, and going off to help the neighbours deal with the damage. I expected a fairly quick job, but it ended up taking a couple of hours, we only had pallet forks on the teleporter, and I had left the ideal strap for the job out of the van. The more I cut, the more the scale of the job became apparent, luckily nobody was hurt by the falling tree, and no significant damage occurred. ( Metal gate, postbox, and Blue Bin ). Neighbour's weaponry was an MS 250, they were mightily impressed by a 400 with a 20" bar on, especially as the stem was nearer 30" in places. Road is now open again, so all good.

  6. The 230 and 160, also forst are dire
  7. Driving and towing entitlements are important too. The more and bigger the better.
  8. What were the two later offerings?
  9. I don't remember exactly when it was, maybe a few years ago but there was plenty of discussion about being better off in Tesco's at the time. TD Trees were offering £24k for an experienced climber, wages are lower up there I guess. I'm just trying to suggest where the lower end of the range is - I tend to agree, someone practical with a little bit of experience and a dose of common sense would be useful and should get the £30k, Oxfordshire isn't a low wage area and also not low cost of living. 40k seems within reach after good experience and head screwed on, going over 50 probably a challenge.
  10. I had a big sapling tree cut down that was growing over the house about 4 weeks ago, but these tree haven't perked up. They appear to be being choked by vines and aggressive roses. Are they passed the point of no return, they look very dead at the bottom?
  11. Dunno why u wouldnt buy an entec chippt 35 and spend a couple of grand overhauling it ,it used to suck in 6" had a good throughput , if u could get it to the feed rollers the machine would do the rest. Probably better than the tw 160, and alot better built than two later offerings .
  12. Nope at the age of 42 and being in the industry before 15 ,I just don't tolerate hunts ,I've seen it too much with bosses that have had clients like this before... Bend or give a little and take a mile, and once they start messing the whole job will go to shit and you'll resent even starting it. .id rather say f them .keep their money keep their fing pathetic job .

    PayPal

I have no problem accepting PayPal- friends and family only mind. Just transfer straight to bank. I even state this as a payment option but it’s very rarely taken up. I used to use it on eBay all the time and have done on gumtree when items needed to be posted out 👍
  18. Thats very kind words ! It was i humbolt with a lazer sharp 500i 28inch bar 👌
  19. The unloading was really no bother. The loading is what killed me. It probably wouldn't have fitted on a tipper without massive greedy boards, which a luton in effect has. Character building stuff.

that's one for the The client psychology thread right there.
  22. if there had been a tipper for hire you could have mashed it up on there being careful of your feet, then just tipped it. Maybe consider one as a second vehicle
  23. A good sharp hand saw, for light reductions. when I’m using a chainsaw, I tend to cut off more then I should. to each his own
  24. Tell him to f himself and his pathetic airmiles, makes u wonder what else the silly hunt will dictate to you .
  25. I've heard the advice that you shouldn't be selling this job; you should be selling the ten after that. Which does sound good but is quite open ended.
  26. You need to read the last 274 pages of this thread really.
