  5. Is it a six week wait before work goes ahead?
  6. You don't need to appy for permission . Just inform them what you are going to do .
  7. You will need to apply for permission so they can tpo anything that takes their fancy, it would help if you had a plan and could show any replanting
  8. Check for any TOPos . If none then just tell local council that you are doing this woek and crack on .
  9. The multimeter was more to test the new start switch block compared to the old one before fitting rather than diagnosing the damage done by "slapping a new one on" and crossing ones fingers😉 Just look at what electrical kit resides around where the smoke was coming from...coils, starter, wiring and then check it out or swap it out. You could look at what the new switch energised that it shouldn't have, doesn't sound that nice...good luck.
  10. I’m starting to get more work as a principal contractor, so I’m trying to learn how to handle planning rules properly. I looked at a job in a nice village, inside a conservation area. The garden is about two acres. Trees are spread around the site. Nothing very special, but there are quite a few: A group of softwoods (mostly leylandii/lawson), one around 2’ DBH A boundary line with two small oaks (one in bad shape), some hollies, and scrub One yellow-looking lawson tree A messy willow Two trees that look like Sitka or Christmas trees Around 15 trees total, plus lots of scrub. The owner wants everything removed, which will change the look of the place a lot. I don’t want to cut corners. This is a very visible job, and people in the village will notice. The owner is new to the area and also planning house work, so there may be extra attention. What’s the best and safest way to do this? Is it worth doing Section 211 notices in stages, or should it all be done at once? I’d appreciate simple advice from anyone who’s dealt with this before.
  11. Reasonable execution, horrific idea. Thing of the amount of money that used up that could have gone to more saws😉
