I have a Morello Cherry tree in my garden, the base is riddled with holes from Goat Moth infestation, it has oozing goo and smells a bit funky, never seen the larvae though.
-
What’s it taste like?

I've been a massive Hitchhiker fan in the past. Wore out the tapes. Could recite it along.

Flushcut/chisel ground sidecutters. Looks unprofessional like that.

Cost of planting young trees etc
Amarus replied to Midpit's topic in Forestry and Woodland management
Anywhere between 30p to £1.5/tree depending on site conditions, planting design and protection installed (i.e. 30p for neat conifer and £1.5 is installing 1.8m tree shelters on top of planting). Mulch mats are a waste of time and material to be honest, not to mention the impact on maintenance. Don't bother. Labour cost is probably around 70p-£1 depending on material, number of pegs etc.- 1 reply

750-800 women on average die every day in the UK. 🤷♂️

Strange that a woman dies and it isn't mentioned by the postee?

Every time a householder kills himself doing tree work a hundred housewives read about it and stop their husbands with the words “no you are not! We’ll get a pro in and pay him whatever it costs” Its an ill wind…..etc.

Exactly. The answer to everything.

The ultimate answer?

I first started using it when I was about 22, probably for the first ever stupid internet thing that I needed to sign in to. Never even imagining that I'd ever grow into it. Hey ho ......

Investigation launched as migrant boat ‘reaches Kent coast’ without being intercepted APPLE.NEWS Five people were detained in a village north of Dover, it was reported Border farce more like it. Seeing that the French have said they will no longer attempt to stop illegals I’d say the invasion will only gather momentum.

Pretty good vid. I thought he was taking a few chances with big swings over the roof, but the camera can be deceptive. The log he roped off took a pretty wild swing, I’d probably have put a tagline on that and let it out slowly, but different strokes and all that.

I’ve always had a weird mental blindspot for sequences. I didn’t know the months of the year in order until I realised at about sixteen that everyone else knew them and I was a mong. Similarly I can’t work out my age from my birth date without really concentrating because of the year tripovers. I changed Sailor’s date of birth to 1st January 2022 to make it simpler. I must also be running low on storage and deleting/archiving things I think aren’t important because I forget trivial shit like my age but snap into sharp focus and can tell you the VAT treatment of gingerbreadmen or anything else that interests me.

There are people on here with way more knowledge than me about such matters, but from those pictures, I would have been firing up a saw immediately. They're some of the ugliest specimens I have seen, and at that size, I wouldn't have any qualms about removing them. When I worked for a builder friend, the building control officer in one area was absolutely petrified of Leylandii. If he saw one anywhere near, the footings had to be bigger/deeper. Once upon a time, a neighbour rang and asked me to fell the oak tree near his mother's house, as it had been deemed responsible for cracking/subsidence. I refused, and told him that the oak tree wasn't the culprit. He replied that he knew it was the big Willow, I knew it was the willow, but the insurance man said it was the oak, and it needed to be felled for the payout.
