  5. Anyone done much small scale thinning? Any advice would be great I'm currently hand thinning larch and beech not be touched for 50 years up a steep slope. I've asked for £32.50 per cube to within reach of a grab. Is this a reasonable rate? Some trees are 35 but most are 25cm base overbark. What is a usual amount to land? having to fell sned and winch, then cut 6 different products and stack ready to be forwarded out? I'm winching with a massey 35x and a 3.5 uniforest and my friend is forwarding with a palms and valtra what is going rate for forwarding? I've heard £6-7 a cube?. Cheers
  6. Hi there, Has anyone had experience killing Larch standing to deal with Phytophthora - or know of any research on doing this? What affect does it have on timber? How long will the timber last standing before rot sets in? Does it work First time? Will trees flush again in Spring? What is best product to use? Roundup BioActiv (Agricultural), or Tree&stump killer, or something else? My understanding is 3 cut marks, or drill holes 1.2m above ground & 2ml of Roundup in holes. Do this in October and the poison will be drawn down into root system with the retreating sap. Not a nice topic - but I've got a seriously crowded wood & think this might be a good way to achieve the PHN by spring. Thanks for the advice.
  7. Alright lads and ladies, im after around 20 poles of larch at 6-8" diameter 4 meter length but not too fussy on exact length. Not machined or treated. Im about to start a few round wood timber frames and looking for a small supplier in North England . i know it's a bit of an odd request but there could be a wider market for poles like this in the future with rustic buildings and glamping sites being a popular venture. Get in touch if you have poles in yard or woodland that I could take away ta mike

The larch has been felled for about 2-3 years now (circa 50 tonne), Ash about 3 years (circa 200 tonne), and has been stored in our yard drying ready for processing. We are looking to reduce some of our stock as the land is needed for other reasons. We have contacts for haulage if anybody is interested. Please PM for prices / phone number. Jack
