  10. Wood chips & hardwood accepted. Both need to be clean, no roots, no branches, no mud, no weeds, Please call ahead to book in delivery. Look for Sustainable Farms on the map, don't look at the red pointer for the postcode as its 500m south of our correct location.
  11. Hello all, I wanted to see if there was any interested parties out there who may want some Timber from a site we are likely to fell near Windsor Berkshire. The timber is a mixture of Oak, Holly, Yew, Sweet Chestnut, Lime and a small amount of softwood. Im either interested in hearing from people who want it and can pick it up in cord length from the site, ( No Cherry picking) It will be free. Another option is just to chip it all! Any one who has a large whole tree chipper and can get rid of the chip too, I appreciate this will not be a free service. The site is perfect for artics, and has some hard standing for processing and removal. I estimate there is approx 60 tone may be a bit more. Thanks, Alistair Magee. 07886028830, message me here on arbtalk.

  21. Hi all I've been registered here for a short while, but use it mainly for reading We have a business in Southern Ireland selling seasoned firewood. All the wood is from our own forestry and it is 100% softwood. Over the last year or two we have had a good few customers asking about hardwood, so with the season approaching fast, we are looking for some prices etc from potential suppliers. If any of you can quote for a full container load of crates, please send me a PM with details. We have had the usual offers from Eastern Europe, but logic tells me that surely what I would have to pay for transport from there, will allow me pay a higher price closer to home?? Mike
  22. Hi, I'm looking to purchase hardwood cords, must be processor friendly. Please contact me at: [email protected]
  23. Hi, We are based in South Shropshire and have a volume of cut and split hardwood logs ready at the road side for collection. very low £ per m3. Cord wood also available. Please contact for more details.
  24. Hi I am a newbie - long time reader, first time poster. I am trying to source hardwood rounds in the Glasgow area. I am happy to buy them and to pay a similar price as I would for an equivalent volumn of cut logs. Alternatively I would also be willing to exchange a day's labour for an agreed number of rounds. Unfortunately none of the firewood suppliers I have approached are willing to sell me rounds. They would just be for my personal use in a log burning stove. I grew up on a farm but now work as a solicitor in an office all day and miss working outside with an axe. Any help would be much appreciated.
  25. I'm new to this forum and growing trees in general and I could do with some advice. I have three fields and I want to become self sufficient for firewood for heating/hotwater/cooking in a woodburner w water jacket and rayburn. I have planted one of the fields with mixed willow and the other half in black locust which I grew from seed from ebay (no idea what variety). I have now become aware that the speed of growth depends on the variety and that there are some even faster growing hybrids out there. I would now like to plant another 2 acres of Black Locust but with e fast growing hybrid. I saw this page that refers to a study of different varieties/hybrids and I am now trying to find the "Tulln 81-62" variety that apparently can only be propagated from suckers. Here is the link to the research: Black locust | waldwissen.net Although thorns are a big issue with these trees, I can't find anything that matches the stats for these trees in terms of energy per square metre per year. Any idea how I might track this hybrid down? Is anybody growing this hybrid over here? Thanks everyone.
