  1. Really shouldn't laugh, but that was funny! *edit*- and the initial headline indeed ridiculous.
  2. No disagreement with that Joe. But the reaction was getting painful to see, in my eyes anyway, and I felt I had to say something.
  3. Enough is enough guys, and this has probably gone beyond enough. It's turned in to a "pile on" and that's not a good look for those involved whether the person deserves it or not. Maybe just time to leave it, eh?
  4. Super replies, just what I was after. Thanks folks.
  5. On further thought, what I have done is lift a bag with a hook. It's a fair stretch to get all four eyes of the bag pulled in to the centre, and you need a good lift height (I done it with the digger), but it does work.
  6. I thought you meant the open/close type with two tines, which does work as you just hook two straps over each tine same as you would with pallet forks. Can't see a bale squeeze working on them as the bag won't retain it's shape like a bale would.
  7. I've about half a dozen or so young but good sized willows to coppice. There's another area not that far away which can flood occasionally, but because it's lower than the banks of the burn that floods it, it can hold water for maybe a day extra and as a result a few trees have died in it. So I'm going to stick in a few willow whips to fill the gaps when I'm trimming out. Where is the best place to take a cutting from, approximately what length and thickness would I leave them, and how far in to the ground? The soil they're going in to is a deep loam so is it just a case of the deeper the better? Thanks.
  8. This is the gentleman's original interview on GB news for those interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yhpv3dNOGHI
  9. I think they've some pretty high tech gear as Doug says.
  10. Do you mean one of the open/close type grabs?
  11. Seems that either the cops or family themselves have taken up the offer made by the guy interviewed on GB news to send his team up to search the river properly. They were due to start this morning at first light and he said that they should be able to conclude the search definitively within a day. Hopefully it will help to move things on in some direction.
  12. Wait and see if the slabs were just put there at quitting time and first thing they'll mark around them, cut the carpet, and lay them properly. But if they intend to leave it like that then chase them. If they're prepared to lay slabs on top of carpet then feck knows what else they're prepared to do, or may have done already.
  13. Simple, we've been ruled by Brussels for so long that it didn't really matter how bad or good they were. But now we're moving more towards governing ourselves again, they're being shown up for being as hopeless as they are and have been for a long time. All part of the re-adjustment.
  14. What, lying at the side of the road swearing and holding your knee?
  15. Fair enough. Next time you pick a fight with someone because they suggest that sometimes it's unwise to listen to experts, I'll remind you of this. Oh, and in future could you please try and type what you mean. So if you actually meant that they were talking bollocks, it would probably have been better if you'd said that initially. Save any confusion. Thanks.
  16. That's what they told me, so you actually mean that they're talking bollocks. Either that or you're just trying to be a smart-arsed prick as usual. On past experience I'd say it's the latter.
  17. They even have a ridiculous oxymoronic name for it, "positive discrimination". What the @$%± is positive about discrimination of any kind?
  18. Interestingly her sister is claiming that the police theory of her failing in the river is purely hypothetical, there is absolutely no evidence to support it, and she is urging everyone to remain vigilant. I'm guessing there's a fair bit of stuff relating to the disappearance that we're not being told, and if that's how it needs to be to help things then so be it.
  19. Coastguard, search and rescue, lifeboat people, will tell you that the sea always gives up it's dead. If she went to sea, the body will eventually wash up somewhere in a few weeks or even months. Seems a brutal thing to say but it's just the harsh reality.
  20. The police specifically mentioned that the dog was dry and hadn't been in the water as Stubby said. Terrible situation for the kids especially, poor wee souls. While you don't wish her to have come to harm on one hand, it would be horrendous if she's staged her own disappearance and put the family through this wilfully.
  21. My thoughts are that they have a strong hunch about something but aren't letting on, publicly at least.
  22. Surely you mean "single lane closure with stop go boards"?
  23. Northern Arb Supplies became Rotatech.
  24. Exactly, and as I said, a big difference between the two. Road closing orders, diversions in place, notifications of the closure, etc, etc, full road closure is a big deal. Whereas closing one lane and operating traffic control of whatever kind in much simpler.
  25. Best make sure that's what you buy then!
