  1. Could you not just get someone to copy and paste "I need everyone to know how much I earn working off-shore", into every thread? That would save you an awful lot of typing. 😀
  2. Pretty much everyone on the forum has experience in these matters. Most of us are (or were) professional chainsaws users with many years of experience.
  3. Yep, understood. I'm not for one second pretending I know more about milling than RH (I don't). I don't think his suggestions are useful for the OP though.
  4. We know all of that. None of it makes your statement about having to loosen a chain true though does it. Ps. I've deliberately ignored the parts of your posts that are wrong, in the interests of avoiding a semantic argument which won't help the OP.
  5. I'm all for a bit of mechanical sympathy, but telling the OP he MUST, loosen the chain or he will bend the crank is firmly in fanny territory. I doubt if the OP will ever even need to buy a new bar, never mind bend the crank.
  6. I get that it's different for milling, but we aren't talking about milling, we are talking about a bloke cutting up a few bits and pieces for firewood. If he's new to the world of saws he'll be spending more time moving stuff than cutting, and I really can't see the saw working that hard (or hot).
  7. Does anyone bother with this stuff in the real world? Where does the specific time of 45 to 60 mins to cool come from? I've never taken the tension off of a chain when I'm done with it, and have never bent a crank.
  8. Only just noticed it.
  9. There is no legal requirement to wear ppe, chaps or otherwise.
  10. What's it for? How about electric? Screwfix do a Titan one for about the price of a decent bar. Might do if it's not doing much work.
  11. There's a difference between bullshit jobs and what would be described as 'key worker' jobs. What I do is valuable, but nobody is going to starve if I can't do it for a month.
  12. An accountant.
  13. I was having that conversation with someone the other day. There are very few people who aren't key workers if you think enough about it. One of few we could think of was me; everyone else seems quite important.
  14. Bet the guy is an eye surgeon / optician.
  15. Not an exact fit, but we often use the term 'trial balloon', which isn't far away from what you describe.
  16. Maybe home ownership is out of reach for those working for minimum wage. Is that a problem?
  17. I'll have a look at the spark arrestor, thanks. It's never been serviced since I bought it, other than me changing the spark plug and fuel and air filter.
  18. Thank you, that's interesting. I've never thought of it like that.
  19. Thank you. That's my understanding too, bit I've seen people quoting having too much oil in the fuel mix as both lean and rich on this forum.
  20. My hedge cutter runs well, but is still smokey. Can you explain what you mean by 'run it rich'. I've seen all sorts of uses for the term on this forum, so I'd be grateful if you could clarify.
  21. Out of the way?
  22. Whilst I agree in principle, in reality that's not the case. I have an old hedge cutter that's really smokey (old hs81 r) and that's only ever had decent fuel in it.
  23. No need to thank me; I was just wondering how daft you were being.
  24. When putting the van close enough for you to escape, did you think about what would happen to some other poor sod who may unknowingly walk into the situation?
