  1. There is no legal requirement to wear ppe, chaps or otherwise.
  2. What's it for? How about electric? Screwfix do a Titan one for about the price of a decent bar. Might do if it's not doing much work.
  3. There's a difference between bullshit jobs and what would be described as 'key worker' jobs. What I do is valuable, but nobody is going to starve if I can't do it for a month.
  4. I was having that conversation with someone the other day. There are very few people who aren't key workers if you think enough about it. One of few we could think of was me; everyone else seems quite important.
  5. Bet the guy is an eye surgeon / optician.
  6. Not an exact fit, but we often use the term 'trial balloon', which isn't far away from what you describe.
  7. Maybe home ownership is out of reach for those working for minimum wage. Is that a problem?
  8. I'll have a look at the spark arrestor, thanks. It's never been serviced since I bought it, other than me changing the spark plug and fuel and air filter.
  9. Thank you, that's interesting. I've never thought of it like that.
  10. Thank you. That's my understanding too, bit I've seen people quoting having too much oil in the fuel mix as both lean and rich on this forum.
  11. My hedge cutter runs well, but is still smokey. Can you explain what you mean by 'run it rich'. I've seen all sorts of uses for the term on this forum, so I'd be grateful if you could clarify.
  12. Whilst I agree in principle, in reality that's not the case. I have an old hedge cutter that's really smokey (old hs81 r) and that's only ever had decent fuel in it.
  13. No need to thank me; I was just wondering how daft you were being.
  14. When putting the van close enough for you to escape, did you think about what would happen to some other poor sod who may unknowingly walk into the situation?
  15. HMRC have a set of guidelines ( a kind of simple test) for this. From what you've said your employers are just trying to shirk their responsibilities as an employer ( and save themselves some NI). It's not them, or you, who decide the relationship. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-employment-status-for-tax
  16. Only if it's treasure that appreciates in value, otherwise you may as well pay tax on it, or just throw some of it away.
  17. Thinking you can tax anyone who has over 100 million in that way, displays a fundamental misunderstanding of how the wealthy store their wealth.
  18. I hate it being too hot. I work best after a hard frost, or with a light dusting of snow on the ground (as long as it's not warm enough to get slushy).
  19. The fact that you think what I do is 'wokery' tells me you haven't a clue what I do. Anyway, you ignore me, I'll ignore you and everybody's happy.
  20. Mad as Batshit is an occupational hazard I'm affraid. Jordan is certainly very popular. Not really my cup of tea; he's more of a 'live a good life', motivational speaker kind of guy. Edit. If you are a fan of Jordan you probably already know this but it's worth mentioning he's a prolific YouTuber and has a lot of good content on there.
