  1. My wife just texted me that Gavin from auto glass repair injected his special resin into her crack. I’m not the jealous type, but I do have the car🤔
  2. How did things work out for you lux? Hope you got a good solution to the problem.
  3. Absolutely, but they won't magically transform you into a Stihl ambassador overnight . Can you try them on and ship them back if you're not happy in these covid times? I think Honey bros are probably the best place to buy the Silky too, I haven't used a Zubat, but they seem to be a good saw. I use an Ibuki, less likely to break and can be filed. Lots of threads on here about 'which Silky,' they all seem to be little vampires. Bahco is a good, cheaper alternative too, I use one for high pruning.
  4. You'd love to know what it actually costs to make a machine that they sell for almost 30 k? In reality there isn't a lot to a wood chipper, blades, flywheel with a few paddles on the back, a chute and a pair of feed rollers. I hope it works out for you Lux, if it was mine I'd be looking for all my money back.
  5. Happy new year Sam. Did you get the Silky yet? Great saw for the branches that won't feed into the chipper. Just remember to keep the saw out of the chipper.
  6. Electric problems can be hard to deal with. Battery is in the boot, make sure the battery is good as a lot of the problems are caused by a bad battery. Is it auto or manual gearbox? There's a fb page https://www.facebook.com/groups/stypelovers/ and a forum too.
  7. I suggest something small that will fit in the boot of a car, keep it simple at the start. Then orders will hopefully come in for bespoke one off pieces.
  8. Spud if you ever write a book on chainsaw trouble shooting, repair and maintenance I'd buy it. Happy Christmas.
  9. Can you look up foot solutions Mark? They measure the way you walk first then make an orthotic insert for your boots. You have to use them in all your footwear and you probably will have to go up a shoe size too. I had chronic back pain all because of foot problems. They’re not cheap at around 150 for a pair, but pain is gone.
  10. Well done Sam, looking forward to hearing how it goes. Let hubby buy you a silky saw for Christmas, then you can start on Boxing day. Good luck☘️
  11. Slightly off topic, apologies, but what's the easiest way for a harvester and forwarder to work on hills, across the slope or up and down? Most of the Sitka on hills around here are straight up and down, that doesn't help with scouring. But if a drain is going across a slope with a sump for trapping silt scouring won't be as bad. I reckon see how many mounds you can make in an hour on that rough ground and go from there. If you just time yourself doing one you could mislead yourself. Just one more suggestion; our (Irish) spade handles are a lot longer than yours, makes a job like that so much easier on the back, you stand up straight using one.
  12. That’s what I was thinking too, the trees are going to be prone to wind blow.
  13. How come there wasn't any drains put in where the digger did the mounding? Looks like water in the holes there in the photos.
  14. I recently bought a pto powered Junkkari. I use it at 1000rpm though. Key thing with these small manual chippers is good blades, as you are relying on the blade setting to pull material in. Mine works fine as long as material is straight going in, forked branches are a problem. In topchipples' video with the fordson major if it gets blocked won't the chipper spin around the yard as it's not attached to the tractor? Also majors had a faster pto than a 135, I think about 750 rpm. Farmi might be worth a look too Farmi CH260 woodchipper MLARGE.COM Farmi CH260 woodchipper
  15. Yes Minister and yes Prime Minister, all you need to know for a degree in Politics. It's not satire at all, it's a documentary! Here I am wondering should I buy a new Oregon bar and chain now from Honey Bros, that I don't really need, or should I wait a few months?
  16. Sorry, my bad, thought the campers were same layout.
  17. Might be worth a look here Growing Apples in Ireland GIY GROW HQ | GIY International GIY.IE Growing Apples in Ireland GIY GROW HQ How to grow apples in Ireland Apple Orchard Ireland Waterford Apples Apples in Ireland Apple Growing in Ireland You say it's N facing slope? It might have a frost pocket at the bottom so apples might do better higher up as pollination will be affected by frost.
  18. If the wood is just left there to rot all the carbon is going back to the atmosphere. Did he get the cap off the peaky blinders set? Had to laugh when he said 'a few months ago you couldn't see the sky in here'.......sums it up.
  19. Ya the G-string had me lol.
  20. What soil type is it? Also how low are the cables?
  21. Look up changing a timing belt on youtube for these, I think the labour alone is £1000. Mate of mine has a camper van version, engine is transverse and v. little room to work at it.
  22. Not a ring spanner prank.
  23. Yes, but it may not always come back🚏
  24. Yeah, I think you've hit a lot of nails on the head here, it was just a brain fart I had on a Sunday afternoon. Explains why no one has done it. By having a pto, it's a long shot, but it could be considered an agricultural vehicle, so could run on cheaper diesel and road tax.
  25. Has Samantha opened a new account perhaps?? If not welcome to the forum OP, don't be shy and get stuck in.
