  1. Someone left the little valtra door open, then tried to reverse the Ranger/tipping trailer alongside ready to chip. Apparently the truck wasn't going backwards well so they put it in 4wd low box and gave it some, resulting in the door being ripped off and the windows shattered onto a stock field. Worse still it was a doorless 90min drive home at the end of the day. Not popular!
  2. I'd keep the tree, It's the biggest asset in the front garden. Sounds lovely when the breeze ruffles through it, shady in a heatwave, birds and bugs will use it, more eye-catching than a shrub, structural when out of leaf.
  3. I remember being in Edinburgh once, subjected to a particularly aggressive "homeless" guy who was trying all sorts to get my money. He left me alone eventually after I started explaining in a patronising way how much better he'd do in the countryside. Could build a shelter in the woods, have fire, plenty of foraging, meat/fish to trap and eat, a burn to wash in. He wasn't at all receptive to my help but it was more effective than telling him to f off had been.
  4. No.10 is Sajiv Javid
  5. Zhe, I'm not discriminating, just struggling to tell which of the brave wimmin are still waiting for the operation.
  6. High standards you have
  7. But what about Sweden, Belgium, Italy? If you've only watched England you've missed many opportunities...
  8. Small dog - squirrel staredown this morning. If it hadn't been for the double glazing...
  9. Been watching women's football for a while now, much more enjoyable than the OTT prima donna mens game imo. I'll be cheering for England in the final, although my favoured player, the midfield boss Lena Oberdorf, is on the wrong team!
  10. Had a site visit today from the happy hounds of the Jedforest pack, out enjoying some exercise
  11. I'm thinking the next step is make sure there's oil in it, fuel, then away you go, happy mowing!
  12. Cutting them back to the boundary is acceptable Les, secretly killing someone's trees not on your property isn't really cricket. Remember how pissed you felt when someone came onto your property and took your bike.
  13. A pair of shears to DIY would depend on whether it's a "row of small conifer trees", or a "small row of conifer trees". Could the OP post a photo to give an idea of size.
  14. Looks great Gary, very well groomed!
  15. Maybe an option to fabricate it using the parts from this
  16. Surely you could deftly kick the mower aside before gently coming to rest at the bottom of the slope in a water bed beside a beautiful woman...
  17. I've heard quite negative things about the EA before. SEPA seem at least to be flexing some muscle now, but I think our MP should take the credit.
  18. Another installment of the Sewer Pipe repair saga if interested. The landowner emailed our MP, John Lamont. Following day SEPA carried out a site inspection, two days after this the landowner received an email from Scottish Water to inform them this issue will be rectified immediately by replacing a Holding Tank which is operating beyond its capacity, lining or renewing the complete sewage pipe from tank to outlet, and upgrading equipment at the local Pumping Station. SEPA have also told them to remove the shit lagoon from the river bank. Hopefully it ends up as a small victory.
  19. Another vote for fox
  20. Chin hammock or dirty face nappy? 😉
  21. Have done the odd banking with a strimmer while wearing climbing harness tied in at top of bank which made working much more stable, still hard going though. Did one as a nipper with Dad using a flymo like openspaceman has offered dragged across the bank on a rope but as has been mentioned it was ok on short grass. For a large area I think nowadays robo mowers are preferred but expensive.
  22. The highest officially recorded temp in Scotland was 32.9 on 9th August 2003 at Greycrook, a few miles from my house. Today I made it 34, still to see what was recorded officially. The lads looked quite hot but for some reason I didn't much notice it.
  23. There are a lot of people that aren't interested in the hassle of seasoning/processing themselves. Just want to make a phone call and get delivery next day. Stack it and use it is as much work as they want to do.
  24. Ecoplugs would probably be cheaper than diesel these days!
  25. A mate of mine who was an Engineer with Scottish Water until recently tells me the Contractor that would've done both these jobs would've been classed a Tier 1 Contractor, meaning the most compliant, professional outfit covering Scotland! He said he'd often suggested to his boss that they'd be better with a local guy who took pride in his work.
