  1. I enjoy watching the Heavy Rescue programme, those guys do some impressive work
  2. Earlier tonight in the Scottish Borders
  3. That's my understanding Paddy, if you fall while 250mm above anchor, you'll travel 500mm before system catches you
  4. Is it not just 500mm max. 250mm above anchor, giving 500mm of slack to fall in to
  5. Would a paper plant pot maker work? They're a small wooden press that shapes a sheet of newspaper into a little plug for sowing seed. Only cost a few quid for the press
  6. Is the photo of Sycamore on Hadrians Wall?
  7. Don't know what to make of this in a shop window
  8. Have read the cloud spotters guide again recently (great book) and enjoyed having time to just sit quietly watching the world. Spent hours looking at the activity round bird feeders, the weather etc. It's been good for the dog too, more time in the warm house instead of being out all the time during winter has benefited his old bones.
  9. The large doors on 2nd floor remind me of a granary in an old farm steading. Maybe for storing goods for transport on canal? The arches being access for horse and cart. Interested to know if there's any sign of a pulley above the big door on gable end.
  10. Stopped snowing but got cold last night, was -12 at 8am. Beautiful calm day though
  11. Lovely quiet day with clear skies between snow showers, just above freezing
  12. That's a great gesture Mr Hewn, it's quite an opportunity you've offered there (hope you checked with any wife, partner or significant other first though!).
  13. Disappointing for you, keep trying though, and on the bright side at least you weren't 6 months in and settled when you met her

    Covid-19

From the edited video that was posted, it looked like the guy was arrested for refusing to give his name when asked, rather than giving people soup.

    Covid-19

We are very fortunate in my area that the Police mostly show plenty of common sense and compassion. The local beat bobby has mentioned before that he is in the lucky position of having a relaxed chain of command above him, and people largely behaving sensibly in public.

    Covid-19

I really don't envy the Police having to enforce the changing confusion of covid laws. The Scottish government seem to be on TV permanently saying 'you may only go out for essential reasons, only essential business is open'. Yet you'll see car showrooms and the like open, and recently the rise of horsebox coffee stalls, the one local to me regularly has groups of people at it, 100m from the Police station. Must be difficult to keep up with what you are enforcing as an Officer.
  17. Cheap logs, you said. Whenever I try the link it says advert not available
  18. The advert has been taken down
  19. Do you think I should leave the dogs in the house? Assuming you mean 'man's best friend' dogs I'd say it depends how they behave really. (If you mean the dogs on your chainsaw, definitely don't leave them in the house)
  20. The league of gentlemen
  21. Does anyone know who the proper 'clerk' is!
  22. Tried it today and I'm afraid the stihl cap doesn't fit on the husky can
  23. I considered doing this when the 3rd spout started to stick, but after asking a few people I got the stihl can/spouts and not had an issue since. If it helps I'll try putting the stihl spout on a husky can to find out if it fits
  24. It's 6pm tonight (wed 3rd)
  25. See lots around here too, doing well on this Holly
