  1. Always use parcelforce, i dont know whats gone on there recently but their prices have dramatically reduced, i was sending saws on 48 for 16 quid, same size and weight is now 9 quid.
  2. Local agricultural dealers charge £5 a chain if its off the saw, £7.50 if you turn up with it still on the saw and do them whilst you wait. Mostly farmers chains who only take them in when there going for something else. Garden machinery centre up the road charge £8 up to 18 inches and you get then back when they are done, they will not do a one off whilst you wait, they wait till they have a few and do them all at once, sometimes takes a week to get them back. I believe this is a ploy to sell more chains.
  3. how often do you re set the valve clearences and do you leave it stored upright?
  4. Put a pic or two up of the parts and saw where it should be adjusted, im pretty sure i recall a thread about the castings in them not been cleaned up properly (had the flashing removed) and the hole to the adjusting screw just needed to be broken through
  5. Everyone pretty much uses L and S Engineers for online parts supply but parts from all places are taking a while to arrive, i ordered some fuel pipes for a dolmar from the dealer up the road and they took 6 weeks to arrive, I usually get them with in 5 days of ordering.
  6. it will be the white U shaped hook that the control shaft sits in, it will be either well worn or snapped off. if its worn there is a fix with a 1.5mm drill hole and a bit of wire, if its snapped the fix is the same but a lot more fiddley
  7. Is it left for long periods with fuel in? If so its more than likely needs the carb cleaning.
  8. If you ever knacker the first couple of threads on a plug hole these are one of the best tools to have for a quick fix 14mm Reverse Action Spark Plug Thread Chaser - Repair Damaged Spark Plug Threads | eBay ive repaired a few where a cack handed owner has realised they are going in cross threaded and then stopped after a few turns.
  9. One reason i never put 12 o clock kick offs in my accas, If your selection loses you've feck all to look out for from 3pm.
  10. Ive had many Stihl US import saws through my hands and not one of them has a problem running on UK pump fuel. Your dealer is hankering after selling you a new saw. Take it somewhere else.
  11. Wayleave. We get £10.61 a year from the electric company for having a steel stay cable anchored into our land from a post on next doors land.
  12. The circle hole is the oil tank air vent, the silver channel is just to fill in where the chain tensioner should sit if your saw wasnt tool less chain tensioning. The oil is coming out of the correct hole.
  13. did you inspect the rubber hose part number 530 05 34 35 Hose they split and cause problems
  14. After uni and jobless my mate was a chugger for a day, stood in town centre all day signing people up to £5 a month direct debit, minimum 2 years. Every one that he signed up he would get £25 in wages. No one signed up. If they did the first 18 months £5's went to pay his £25 and the rest in admin costs. Not till a year and a half after making your first direct debit would the charity see any of your money.
  15. There isnt one honest charity out there, every day there is a story about about how they are run, here is todays Royal charity spent 98% of its cash raised in one year on paying just 10 staff, probe reveals | Daily Mail Online
  16. Cant stand Ben Fogle, whenever hes on i turn off.
  17. That looks like a MS181 piston to me.
  18. If youve spark and fuel its compression. Remove the exhaust and check the state of the piston.
  19. If your stuck, ive just found a 501 under the bench which i'd forgotten about, i was going to repair it (lean seizure) but cant be bothered. I can send you the coil if you need.
