  1. My risk taking hobby is chasing fascists at counter demonstrations, that confirms your doctors point.
  2. You need to bare in mind that the sap flow is very high in nutrients, a bit like alga in a petre dish ! Fungal spores will flourish on the surface of the cut over the next month , and also down the trunk. A very dilute wash of jeyes fluid might be best if that happens. When the leaves are out the pressure of sap will abate and it will dry up. Is the sap flowing now ? This varies on weather conditions hot or cold! I’d guess it’s flowing due to the mild spell. walnut and all maples are similar.
  3. Sorry guys It was a bloody rude question I knew when I asked.but as I said it was in the interest of profitability! I’m out the game. but care about this. We need to avoid the race to the bottom price wise, that’s tough with so much compatition ! TTownsend yep respect that Reg respect that too ! Jus going to watch it again and edit in my price or two ! >>>> Yes I think Mick Dempsey has it right. That should set the bench mark. A good skilled man/team will make it look it easy (see vid) the less skilled or nervous would have turned it into a right old drama ! And took twice as long !! Going by that . Why should the less skilled earn more becouse it took them longer. although people are reluctant to discuss this, it’s in every ones interest. To late for me sigh !
  4. Reg in the interest of making our industry profitable (as it should be) what price would you put on a take down like that ?
  5. Sky huck get better real quick ! And don’t give up the climbing. Their’s no such thing as mistakes !! Just valuable experience, I just know your a bloody good climber by your personality and humour! I love the banter!
  6. Back to mental health ! Ever noticed - - when your happy and enjoying yourself the day seems to go by twice as quick ? And if your unhappy ( row with the misses, under priced job, crap team) the day seems to drag by. Every minute seems like an hour ! i always made sure we had a bloody good laugh !!
  7. I’m told all these new gadgets can make a big difference ! At about 17 I decided to speacilise in tree work, little knowing what a vast field of work that covers ! There’s room here for everyone of every physical and mental ability- - - If we look after nature nature will look after us.
  8. Thanks for asking ! I haven’t been told not to climb, but it didn’t work ! One days climbing = two weeks sheer agony but hey 50 years climbing ! My cups half full, a new and exciting chapter to look forward to. Also psychologically, I found I was getting blind to the danger. I had no fear of it. That worried me, i’v heard Mountaineers say that’s the time to stop.
  9. Wow you just nailed it , I’ just come through a year of 9 bouts of bad back! I was planning to keep climbing! But my back said no. Really sad about it. I’m not one to give up, we just have to adapt. Fruit trees and teaching from now on. But always stay positive! With good positive people around you.
  10. I ’d be interested to hear peoples indervidual coping mechanism’s ? I had a load ! for me the most important one is, always listen to your body’s red warning lights, it will tell you when to slowdown or speed up.or even chainge what your doing !!

But you were onto it. Eny way no distractions, have a good weekend. And good luck.
  14. Tillia cordata. Must be close to a lamp post !

  19. I’v still got my eyes open for this chipper, I have the serial number, and will be checking. but as stated it’s likely to be out of the county. there are professional teams, doing this, they have a network around the country and tend to swap the stuff they steal. They do the same with caravans. The police know them ! But it’s a game of cat and mouse ! If only these machines had tracking devices.
  20. I used to live next door to a windmill in Hampshire. Lovely bit of wooden engineering ! the actual teeth of the huge cogs/gears were carved out of Apple wood. !
  21. I don’t envy the rich, they envy me ! And they tell me so, time and time again. You see it’s all down to how you define wealth. - - - Is it noughts on a bank statement ? Or the people you’v got round you ? Your environment ? State of mind and health ? No I don’t envy them I pity them - - - no heart! no soul! but there are exceptions, we can’t generalise.
  22. The point is - - - If they want to under pay us ! There robbing us ! Put your prices up guys. That way the rich aren’t as rich as they think they are. It,s up to us to tax them.
  23. This is what the rich do and more now than ever. directly or indirectly. Some do it with a smile on there face.
