  1. Mesterh sadly none of my own photos but I may try and look some up. wonkey spot on with that one good photos. that gale damage was the result of the previous loss of trees as a countywide windbreak! (Chain reaction) with ash dieback ect ect Our whole industry right now needs fore site. the good news is where there’s a problem there’s an opportunity!!
  2. Tree fancier-123 we are the medicine ! it’s down to us. One example— Not long ago if you rang a timber merchant up and said you had one oak butt to sell, he’d advice you to saw it for logs ! Country wide think of the wast, the reduced value! with small and mobile milling there’s big potential, ditto the firewood industry , I’m thinking of potential employment, having read that thread about silky fox today! times that by thousands! Im thinking of fantastic furniture i’v seen here today.
  3. This industry that we are part of —- Arborculture, forestry, timber industry, nursery, cider industry ect ect, we are the caretakers of what is remaining! Were a modest lot ! (except me) we just get on with it, enjoy our work feed the family and that’s it ! No ! What we do is preserve an indangered environment! more so now than ever before. With new tree diseases over the last decade. the remaining trees we try and make safe and extend life span. We plant. With forestry and milling we create a value to that landscape I mentioned above ! We need as an industry to consider the massive potential of what we do and ways to expand that industry!
  4. You could stand on a Hill in Somerset look 10-15 miles and all you would see is trees !no feilds. I’m not exaggerating! there were so many Elms in the hedge rows. we have got used to what we see know, we know no different. But consider the implications—- increased wind, loss of wildlife, complete change to the environment! It was’nt only ‘Dutch Elm disease (D,E,D) you could get grants for grubbing out hedges complete with the other types trees oaks, ash, sycamore’s ect ect . i point out this for a lot of reasons ! Relevant to present day. A lot of Britain was the same ! Pause for one moment and imagine that world compared to this.
  5. Darrin Turnbull what fascinates me ! Is that we put our own originality/signature to the work. I won’t even ask what that is worth! Priceless ! Here’s my humble offering.
  6. That’s a buit! How tall/wide? It‘s got the lot! Elm’s one of my fav. I love the soapy/waxy feel it has. Any more pics?
  7. I love that bit of timber! Don’t wast it, Windsor chair seats spring to mind ! Makes lovely bowls ect.
  8. ouch! I feel your pain bro ! Its that first tast of pain, that prob prevented us from the c saw cuts ! Cup half full, not half empty style.
  9. Sandvik bow saw scars from my teens ! Onece bitten twice shy !

Brilliant vid as all yours are ! Just retired myself, so viewing these vids will help me keep my identity! Keep them coming ?
  11. Here’s a bit more truth am reality for you guys. Sorry !https://www.cyberguerrilla.org/blog/operation-integrity-initiative-british-informational-war-against-all-part-4/
  12. Rightly or wrongly, in this job we get judged by what saw we use ! For me it’s a’sthil’ every time, no question. Plus with saws we get what we pay for! not least longevity and back up service.
  13. Steve luv it !! At last some one with a sense of humour! thanks for having me on ya site ! Haven’t enjoyed me self so much for years ! I’v bin splitting me sides laughing, start to finish ! Dam hope these boys can laugh at um selves.
  14. Ratmam no that’s not me but thanks for asking ! My first post on this thread was true, as all the rest ?
  15. thanks for that Mike Hill. brill bit of common sense there ! Only been on this site two weeks, bit of a steep learning curb! I’m sad I got tested like that, before people got to know me. I did promises on the new subscribers forum that—- I would’nt b s and i’d be honest, so all the sepecultion is wasted! What they see is what they get. .Us tree men should be patient people, considering the time a tree takes to grow ! Warm regards
  16. Your man kev got barber chaired ! Becouse he wasn’t paying attention and insulted my reputation ect ect ect. <<<Who’s the daddy>>>
  17. Durruti Have you got transport with a heavy trailer ! in your situation I would keep a good look out on the ‘woodlot’ Web site ! Do you know it ? Nation wide directory including standing / felled timber for sale ! Check it out ! Bloody good site any way!
  18. Skyhuck five shires is right ! Someone comes on this sight and gets attacked like that it’s disgrace full ! Expect where he says some of us are more elequint than others, you know, To any member who viewed this thread ! Particularly the last few pages, will clearly see just who are the pro’s and who are the bunch of ignorant low standard cowboys ! reduced to one word insults, compared to the guy on vid the names here are perminat and will be judged. Most of you have no self respect and before our eyes have brought this profession into disrispect. Don’t you dare critasise that vid ! With a few exceptions the names here aren’t fit to judge a video, a fellow tree surgeon, or even estimate a tree ! You think you know it all ! I’v forgotten more than you know! my advice to you is don’t rush to past judgement ! You make you selves look what you are fools !
  19. Yep Joe but Kev chainged that from tree work, to personal attacks, doubting my age and attempting to distory someone’s reputation! he’s in the wrong! he’s big with his mates around him. i do the big one’s ! some valuable lessons to be had here ! If your going to dismantle a big one in a confined space ! Have a plan. Take it down section by section. Don’t get distracted. And when you’v dismantled it ! Be sure to clean up after ! Oh and if you find you’re losing your temper up there! come down straight away! That’s dangerous.
  20. Thanks AJStrees Do you have cider makers in your area? That is a booming industry these days! Give them a ring ! That crop is worth money. If it earns, you’ll fell more inclined to do just a bit of maintence ! Hope the pruning course is a good one. my simple advice re- pruning an orchard don’t spend all day on one or two. Your enthusiasm will wain ! prioritise. 2 hours max per tree then move on ! aim to get round the orchard that way ! Trust me ! That way you improve your orchard overall ! Thats a realistic long term maintence program ! look into grants & good luck ??
  21. Kev if that was an apology! I’ll except it, if not we better clear this up. As much as i’d like to be young ! We’re strangers ! You guessed (wrongly) ya know i’m Not even angry.
  22. Kevs gone off to sulk ! So we get to the end of that one comment ! o k kev names ! Now I don’t know where your based ? I’m in the West Country for that to be a good test our ‘patch’ would need to over lap !! I’m game ! Your move troll.
