With my hs86 unit with ap300 battery . I have used it in light rain but also used in heavy rain about 7 or 8 times and still working fine (I wrapped it in a few bags and tape it up) generally they are not recommended for any wet though i was tempted at buying more cordless kit but this puts me off a lot but saying that the unit has had a lot of use and remains my preferred cutter (usually got about 3 in van then see what weather is doing )

After removing it earlier had realised the roots had completely broken away in one big chunk.still cannot work out what exactly happened.it could be elaeagnus with thorns not pyracantha not sure .will get a picture of a leaf as interested now what it is

Yes had to trim a load of big blackthorns a few weeks back.seemed very springy/tough stuff to cut even with new chain.possibly the tree in question just got old and gave up in the heat .agreed to remove said bush tomorrow so will probably soon be complaining about the thorns

Pyracantha tree fallen over and partly broken at one side of the base of the trunk .(tree about 6m heigh) it still looks to be alive and apparently had just randomly fell over last night .just interested to know what could have caused it fall over and was not top or leaning and still seemed healthy.we had to cut one of the smaller roots slightly to get a fence panel in but it’s unlikely to be that as that was done earlier in the year and never seemed to affect it

Not sure if the laurels were recently bought but would suspect the roots are not fully established /came out of small pots .mature shrubs like this can take a while to acclimatise to new spots with more wind etc .These things are usually almost impossible to kill

If there are 30 loads then the stuff is just full of air and not jumped down much or squashed.green bin would be an idea . Also when it’s on floor piled up it’s easy to mince stuff with a hedge cutter and just turn it over a few times . -

Just for the record I did quite enjoy some small talk today .when it’s on hourly rate /day rate then happy to chat about mrs miggins moggy all afternoon .far easier then actually working

Sometimes a work guy says stuff I cannot stand .one regular saying on the job is are you winning ? I think That is a real dumb thing to say and never understood why someone might say that knowing full well that job is going well and then there is the saying ‘’well done ‘’ usually said in a slightly patronising manner .and a more recent thing is being told to not do as thorough job which doesn’t take as long though client wants a good job . I said I can’t work like that .soon sorted that any similar stuff which gets to you a bit ?

People watching can get a bit annoying.Waited long enough the other day for some nosey ass to get out the way ,in the end they got a showering of sawdust .

Some nice timber in that K.could have landed it on those 2 smaller limbs .the heat not as bad this week but still sweaty work .i once cut something of a similar size ,apparently the whole house shook as it landed

With this staffing lark, suspect it’s just an attempt to lure them in for a chat ,but then it won’t be as glamorous as they hoped or ever will be ,such is life .J

I tried a few honda ones are thought they were a bit overrated but still usually ok.had 3 husqvarnas with Briggs and Stratton engines .currently running an LC253s (cost about 400 ish) . I believe it is the best mower in that price range .

It got to about 32 here today .seems crazy the amount of water to bring to jobs ,I was in full sun all day and started feeling a bit nauseous towards the end of the day.hopefully the heat will be dropping off towards the end of the week .

Some interesting points made about over hydration , I guess that can be possible in some cases .one of the days after drinking bucket loads still hardly pissed anything and when I did that was dark yellow which usually means dehydration . I guess most of the water is just lost in sweating. Kriss i get the pressure thing in the brain sometimes with migraines,vomiting usually gives relief but not much is known about this yet .i think of it now though as just a state of mind though which anyone can learn to overcome

Anyone else find that with sun lotion everything sticks to you and you end up looking camouflaged and then some of it washes away with sweat.yesterday drank 6L on the job and still had a headache , and Even a factor 50 didn’t fully protect .i can’t stand this heat

I went for an interview once for a similar job .It wasn’t until it was further discussed that I realised how much of a joke it was .(the pay and there high expectations lol) I suspect all the young men there which were working for peanuts only wanted all there tickets paid for then and arborists mentioned in cvs then most would be leaving after 6 months .more money stacking shelf’s in the warm and dry

If these are just the common Laurel then once trimmed they will only grow back quicker anyway .but if they are more mature /woody and cut back to bare wood then the new regrowth shoots would form the hedge so would probably end up a few ft higher .i cut one back hard about 2 months ago and been back again to trim it today so they can grow like weeds and usually hard to keep them the same height without constant maintenance

I sold 4 bikes over lockdown which were bought as projects.mostly classics Recently I’ve seen a cheap 200hp outboard and thinking of attempting at trying to put that in a bike .probably a stupid idea but think of the power
