  1. Looks like a fake to me .im not that sure though as only bought Stihl
  2. pay should be first 2 hrs £25 p.h for antisocial hours.
  3. Just to clarify Job in question would have been 22miles each way ....25min drive possibly bit unrealistic anyway.to fill up any spare time over winter may look at getting more saw tickets
  4. Well had to tell the guy in reality ain't gonna happen in the morning it was only loose arrangement anyway .Have worked on the arrangement before as groundie where I meet with work gang directly at job site 8.20 ready for the day with own saws and everything ready .that was ok and we got the jobs done .about 4 years ago I did 3 months of night work (10 hr shift ) decorating I will never do that again .
  5. What time would you consider is too early to start everyday for £10p.h ? I usually will work 9-5 type hours when doing sub subcontractor work or my own jobs .(£15-£20 p.h ) never been one for early starts .im not lazy just realistic .and really can't see myself starting this early .been talking to someone who wants me to do some groundie jobs to start at 06.45 and is around 25 min drive so probably have to leave at 6.15 and be up 5.45 . I was just looking for bit more winter work initially as things can slow down a bit coming into the winter .i was going to try it for a day with them tommorow but not sure now .even the thought of it makes me tired lol
  6. Stihl blower sucker attachment very slow waste of time .best bet to get nice big leaf rake biggest one available and some builders bags some can possibly be mowed up as well .usually takes me about half hour to get a bag full
  7. I have been using a Stihl hsa 86 with the ap300 battery a lot this year for all sorts of hedge jobs .It will run for 3.5 -4 hrs on full charge no problem and it will cut through most stuff .they can't be used in the wet though and after first 50hrs work they seem a little less powerful even with blades sharpened .I use to use my hs82rc a lot more but it is very heavy compared this one but i think I will be using it more .Stihl hs45 ok for but not great with anti vibration .long reach hl95 good always handy .Having now used the cordless Stihl I think they won't last as long as the petrol versions and not worth buying for commercial work
  8. Eucalyptus very nice .maybe it's possible actually to extract the oil but boiling the leaves / wood in water in an empty oil drum over a wood fire for a few days and the oil will rise to the top?
  9. Never knew hawthorns could give anyone that much grief.I had my share of pricks with them and holly brambles roses etc still some thorns from years ago in my fingers .having now tried various different non chainsaw gloves I've been most impressed with the Stihl ergo forestry gloves which are very comfy and breathable unlike some others .and offer good protection against getting handles mangled .worst thing actually with hawthorns is when they go through shoes that happend once with a large nail as well .its more the shock than anything that's the worst bit

    Stihl MSA161

Just out of intrest do these last at all if you were to get caught out on a rainy day ? I bought few of the Stihl cordless tools with the ap300 battery which will run for 3-4 hrs but having to be weather dependent when using them is a big downside .out of all of them I find the hsa86 hedge trimmer is the most useful for me as its so much lighter than the hs82 and will still cut most stuff
  11. I have cut a lot of hedges upto about 13ft and have found that adjustable step ladder and long reach Stihl work great (I bought a big tree surgery ladder thinking it would be handy but not used much yet .https://www.diy.com/departments/mac-allister-folding-telescopic-double-3-way-16-tread-multi-use-ladder/3663602895688_BQ.prd
  12. Ok yes Ive only just started looking at woodlands .I was trying to find decent block of trees Ready for clear fell within 5-10 yrs max by the sounds of things though this not the one .and yes I'd cut the whole lot myself.as an alternative idea I've thought about buying small bit of land with good road access and to run it as green waste disposal site and to charge for tipping .and to produce biomass.firewood and compost to sell on
  13. Hi guys .Been looking into buying a small block of woodland under 50k which can be commercially viable What would 3 acres of dense semi mature fur trees be worth ? ( stacked roadside) Did a guess at 4-5k but really not sure as not sold timber before
