  1. If only they hadn't have filled it with compost already, you could have stuffed it for them hugelkulture-style as you go.
  2. Absolutely not! They aren't native plants, and as such will strangle the red squirrels. I'll stick to chewing on hawthorne leaves and scraping the soil off of wild parsnips, thank you very much. But no, those look very interesting. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll look into them!
  3. I've found that an airtag sewn into the lining of her handbag and another cable tied under her car lets me keep track of her movements just fine 👍

    Lidl 53cc saw

Ehh, I've got high-minded ideas of tiny wee quad bike or something for the kids, but if we are honest that's well outside my capabilities and likely always will be. At the moment it's primary function is to prevent dust gathering on the shelf it occupies. Probably fill that role for another decade or so...
  5. I agree with Gareth there, 9 acres doesn't sound like a lot to me for firewood and woodchip on any scale that'd make you rich... unless you have a way of turning into a value-added product. Peat-free compost could be an avenue to look into for making more per gram of woodchip. Mix it with chicken shit, pile it up, ignore it for a while... boom! Free money!

    ArbDogs? Pics!

Waiting patiently for a chunk of crispy beef lung.
  7. Now then fellas... would you rather have a Timberwolf 150 for 13000 euro or a GreenMech 150 for 12000 euro. Are there a thousand euros worth of bells and whistles on the Timberwolf? Also, marginally easier for my customer to go for the GreenMech due to his various financial dealings and the presence of a border on the island of Ireland. Is it a no-brainer at this point?
  8. Ah, that was kind of them. Like letting the kid with Down's syndrome score the winning goal.

    Lidl 53cc saw

Just walked through Lidl to get a chocolate twist and a toffee yum yum for myself and a packet of 20% reduced cooked chicken breast slices for my two beautiful assistants, and checked the middle aisle for the hell of it. 100 euros for the saw this year! Outrageous. Better off putting that towards an unknown quantity 2nd hand saw on ebay. Roll the dice, see what you get.
  10. Err, no. It's his own decision to use the old stuff. Retro is cool.

    Lidl 53cc saw

I got one 5 years ago. Worked fine for a winter, then died of unknown causes. Didn't shed a tear, didn’t try to fix it. Still got the body of it, might try and turn it into something exciting one day... but probably won't.

    Jokes???

  13. This was late last night, but I didn't want to keep anyone awake with the excitement. Picking the seeds out of hundreds of lupin pods. Did the evening primroses a few days ago, and I'll be doing the snapdragons later this week hopefully.
  14. Ach, look, I'm as big a beer snob as anyone, I like wierd little beers with ridiculous names and artistic scribbles all over the label, that taste like a mown lawn with random chunks of vegetation floating around in them, made with ancient grains and heirloom varieties of hops, brewed by men with big beards and stupid haircuts in reclaimed tin bathtubs in the most pompous parts of town... But I'll still drink a budweiser if it's both ice cold and all that's available.
  15. The 5 nearly 6 year old asked for a castle for his birthday. Slightly over-engineered, not many true right angles in it... good and sturdy, anyway. I'll update once I've added the drawbridge, arrow slits, siege ladder, and a lick of paint.
  16. Catching a 20 story building in mid-air with chopsticks. Man, the future is crazy, yo!
  17. It certainly does! The article quotes someone saying another 40 years' life expectancy on each 100 year old oak... what exactly were they planning to do to them in 2060?
  18. Take it to the covid thread, fellas.
  19. After now 6 years living in Ireland, the snow of the Alps is one of the biggest things I miss, but Baldric misses it more than me. I hope he gets at least one more good snowfall before he turns up his toes. 17216985_501703100219224_5569086502752747520_n.mp4 Regarding leads... another thing I miss about France, which annoys me here in Ireland, is that they are seen as an alternative to training and socialisation. They aren't allowed to stop for a sniff, they are just dragged on. What kind of life is that.
  20. See, that's a much kinder way of putting it than calling us all wrong. I agree with you that most dog owners shouldn't be.
  21. Ah, to be fair, the front seat of the van is pretty much the cage for my two... on their very worst days they'll have 3.5 hours in it in the morning, an hour in the woods at lunch, then 3.5 hours back in the box. But usually on those days my wife picks them up in the afternoon when she's finished school. Also, young Oscar was obviously kept in a cage from 5 to 8 weeks, and who knows before that. But he values the wire cage he came home in as his Safe Space, and just goes in there of his own free will to hang out. He's in it now, chewing on a bit of larch.
  22. Ehh. Telling everyone who chooses to keep a social animal with them instead of locking them up all day that they are wrong seems a little... err, what's the word... retarded. Yeah, that's it. Of course you can train a dog to stay by itself all day. You can train a baby not to cry by ignoring it all day too. It doesn't mean that you should... Defend your own dog keeping behaviour as much as you want, and I'm sure your dog is happy enough... But don't think for a second that you are doing it better than the rest of us.
  23. It does seem a bit too wallet-friendly all right!
  24. Nice one, the 220 is probably a bit much for him then. I'll look into TW150, I expect they crop up on 2nd hand sites often enough. Any idea what this Irish company might be like?
