  1. I remember being in Avignon about 2003 I think it was. There was a heatwave, we were in the middle of 44c. That was too hot. I think it was in the new at 55c in Portugal that year.
  2. You mean to bath in? From what I’ve read, like most birds of prey they get the water from the food they eat. I’ve been dipping the meat in water just to make sure.
  3. He’s perked up a lot and seems happy. Can’t fly so keeping him out of danger until he is ready.
  4. This little Kestrel had been attacked and left in the grass unable to fly yet. I’ve taken him under my wing, feeding him and getting back to good health.
  5. Milled up some lumps of pine recently. Old logs. But some useable wood in there.
  6. You bring up a good point. Don't want to rush these things though. To be fair. It's on the list for some time in the future. I don't want to offend the stove community.
  7. No stove. Got some fire places but use them infrequently. Not enough to keep piles of wood busy though.
  8. I see what you mean. Yeah for firewood, I have piles of the stuff on our estate which I am happy to get rid of, its been sitting for a while now and not under cover, just basically a pile of cut up logs. shame to waste it. I don't have use for firewood much.
  9. Yeah, not sure to be fair but from what I understand the sensor ones give you a better reading of the middle of the timber. This is mostly for milled boards rather than firewood.
  10. Looking to get a decent moisture metre. Got the Stihl one with pins at moment but believe the sensor types will give a much more accurate moisture percent within the timber. There are probably lots of past posts on this but can’t find them. Any ideas or opinions welcome (as long as they are constructive) 🤣 [emoji106]
  11. Very nice. I've got a black poplar hybrid down its a biggy. Haven't decided on milling it up yet, but if its got nice colouring like that, it might be worth it.
  12. Top one doesn't look like ash to me and the bottom one looks more like birch as above.
  13. Whooper swan stretching her legs after a long sit on her nest Grey Heron perched on a tree by the pond
  14. 6 eggs on the swans nest.
  15. Yes, I think regular trapping is the only solution. As much as I don’t like doing it.
  16. Unfortunately the mink swim over to the island where the swans are nesting. This is their first nesting season and I am rather concerned that minky might want to go for a swipe of the eggs. Trapping might be the only answer.
  17. And a few more for luck.
  18. Bit more milling today. Having had the 881 now a couple months I’m finding it a joy to get through quite a few cuts in a few hours. Also been using the 48” lo pro bar and chain and the combination of these seems to work really well. Some chestnut [emoji270] and cherry [emoji523]
  19. Cheers Andy, I see what you’re saying. [emoji106]
  20. Anyone doing quarter sawn timber on their bandsaws? I presume it would be a much better cut for structural timber?
